I've heard of several horror stories of meddling mothers that ended up destroying their child's relationship/marriage. It got to the point of causing break-ups, separations and/or divorces.

I heard about a mother taking her then 20 year-old daughter to their homecountry (the girl didn't want to go), meddling in her relationship so much, gossiping terrible things about the guy to others, lying to him about her being at a party to make him jealous, plotting schemes, etc. She practically controled her daughter's decisions and relationship. Now the woman is in her 30's, still in her homecountry with no future, unmarried and childless. She never fell in love with anyone else. The guy didn't have enough money to work on her case of bringing her back. Plus, he doesn't want to deal with the drama it caused just to be in that relationship. They went their separate ways but remained friends.

I know they say love conquers all but toxic MILS ruin things too? When you marry your partner, you're marrying the whole family too.

I was talking to a guy for about 6 months or so. We met online & due to covid we weren't able to see each other, we got really close really fast. Things were good but then he began to have doubts at 5 months & talked about a break for a while until we could see each other. 6 months he officially said to go on a break and if i found someone it was okay. Things were good, we would talk, he would call me beautiful & said his dad asked about us. Mind you this was about 2 weeks ago. A week ago i texted him telling him i missed him and i got no response or anything. I waited and doubled texted and then triple texted a couple days later this past Friday, the 23rd, he posted a picture of him with a girl and the caption said "hot girl summer WHO? #datenight #couplegoals #covid_19 #romantic" I saw it when i opened insta and i liked it and he blocked me on everything. Days later he messaged me and deleted the picture, he said he didn't know what he's doing with himself. He also said "The one person i posted, like I don't know, they approached me and i was like hey let's give this a try i guess. I blocked you like an immature guy then boom it doesn't work, i reflect on myself and i feel like an idiot who feels like i do everythin wrong. I probably hurt you and probably ruined that chance. I get left for somethin stupid and now i feel like i ruined everythin this is why i have commitment issues and its my own damn fault." then he does on to say he is unhappy and insecure. tried to fill the void when he isn't happy with himself. He also apologized for blocking me. The things I asked for were to never block me & to please tell me if he ever found anyone. He did the exact opposite & apologized I've thought about this, he did bring up taking a break and told me what he did like he reached out. But i don't want to be an afterthought but have feelings for him, i can't fully trust but i want to be friends.. Let me know what u think

So I have this guy that is in his mid 30s. I have been there for him this past year and vice versa. I have made it clear and consistent when mentioning I do not want to be in a relationship or even entertain the idea.
My "guy friend" has kept mentioning when we converse "when we..." statements. I have always corrected them. However, I am at a point where he really wants to be together and I do not want to entertain it. I believe he now is taking more drastic options. He has started bribing me with sugar baby incentives w/ the physical being tacked on. I am at a point where I want to break things off in a civil manner because I feel sick even being remotely bribed in any fashion. Plus he doesn't drive which I would have the burden of driving him around when we hang out. The cons are speaking loud and clear.
So I was looking for what you guys think of his intentions. He's very sarcastic and dances around issues; but will wait a day then try and make you retract what you said because his feelings were hurt. I feel like he is trying to manipulate the situation just so I stick around.

I'm not really sad anymore about the breakup, i reflect on the relationship and i can see some things that i didn't see when i was with him. I've wrote thank you and forgiving letters to myself about what he did. I've done a lot of grieving and self work on myself and learned a lot. We were only together for half a year. The breakup in a way was blindsided because i thought we could work on it but at the end he was an asshole. he asked me a question before if we were to take a break and told me were not taking a break or breaking up just to break up with me a few days later. I've come to notice talking to someone else and potentially having a relationship my walls are up and emotions are like frozen. I get excited about the new guy but then its like back to feeling nothing sometimes.

In the beginning he told me he wants to be there for me and be apart of my mess and we will get through anything just to have him breakup with me. Not work on something which ultimately would have more issues down the road so its good we broke up but i thought we could work on it if we really "loved each other". Addiction got the best of him and blindsided me in a way.
