For example, cutting yourself (but this question isn't limited to just cutting). Whether it was just for fun, or because you were stressed out, or depressed, or anything like that.

(Only read on if you want, it's just my mild experience with it)

I scratched my hand with my pen repeatedly along the same line once in Grade 8, and I didn't realize how bad it was and it ended up scarring (it wasn't even deep or anything though, so it was weird how it scarred). Then, in Grade 10, I did the same thing but with my blunt mechanical pencil (with no led protruding from the tip), not for fun, but just because I was stressed out cause my mom was constantly having a go at me for essentially no reason haha. Later that year I noticed how the two scars were pretty much side by side, and I was a complete idiot and thought it would be fun to make a happy face out of it and so I made a third scar there in a curve that looked like a smile with the two lines for eyes on top. (I think at that point it was more of a cry for help/attention because I was still feeling stressed out for similar reasons as before, and starting to get depressed too, and inside I kinda found it ironic that I was using a happy face to show that I was depressed.) Anyway, that was a year ago, and the happy face scar (which by the way, only my brother noticed - no one else haha, except for my friends whom I told about it) has stayed this whole time. I was meaning for a while to find a way to get rid of it or hide it or something, and the only solution I could find was to cover it up with another scar :S. I realized that a few weeks ago, but last night my parents really annoyed me, getting really mad at me for, in my eyes at least, virtually no reason, and I faked a sincere apology and went away and used that opportunity when I was really angry and adrenaline was flowing to use the same blunt mechanical pencil to scratch all over the happy face scar. So, hopefully this will end up hiding the happy face.

Also, last year while I was depressed, a couple of times I used my nails to dig into my forearms and I picked out a couple of small holes in my right forearm and one bigger one in my left forearm, all of which have also scarred. But they're less visible / obviously self-made than a big happy face scar on my hand haha.

I'm done with all this now, though. Hopefully forever. It was pretty dumb of me to do all of this. I don't really regret what I did last night, though. But I will have to try and hide it from people like my mom.
