I hate this godforsaken state. Even though I have been to worse states, this one still ranks the top states I dread being in.

I have worked in public safety for years, while Tennessee residents and politicians show more appreciation and give more funding for law enforcement, firefighters and EMS personnel are treated like shit. Very little funding, if any, is given to emergency services.

If you live outside any corporate city limits, there are only volunteer fire departments and for-profit ones like Rural Metro. In my county, fire departments do not receive any tax revenue. Many of these departments must charge residents subscription fees. Failure to do so will result in $1000 per engine, per hour if you ever need help. Meanwhile, parks and recreation is funded and a $500,000 sports park was being constructed among other projects. Talk aboug getting priorities mixed up. In one county, the fire department just let a house burn to the ground because the homeowner forgot to pay.

The EMS services are unimpressive. The school systems lack.

The state ranks very poorly for mental health. On the bottom actually. This state reeks of drugs, crime, mental illness, and poverty.

They closed down a mental health hospital here, and many end up either on the streets or shipped across the state.

In rural areas, the beautiful scenery is poluted by trailers, trash, and rubbish in everyone's yards.

The winters are dreary, cloudy, damp, and cold. The summers are miserably hot.

Ugh, I want to get out of here so bad. I just don't have the financial means of doing so.
