I'm 18 years old currently, but I'm at the point where I want to start building the stepping stones to my future. I have most of my future sketched out but I'm a little bit concerned over one portion of it.

The idea of childbirth and pregnancy has frightened me for years; it looks painful, I'm a perfectionist when it comes to how I look, and I'm not sure if my eating disorder (BED; alternating between extreme binging to compensatory restriction) would affect a baby or not.

I really want to adopt around 3 children when I finish pharmacy school at 24 years old and/or when I get married.

I know I'll be able to afford it; I'm just scared that a guy wouldn't want to marry me, because I wouldn't be giving him biological kids.

I've been working on improving myself to make up for it, such as putting effort into looking presentable, working on my domestic skills, keeping myself well educated, and potentially having a nice paying job.

I'm just not sure if that would be enough.

I stumbled upon an incredibly interesting situation while annotating a book by Gene Weingarten for AP English Language class. There is about 5 cases of people who forget their babies in their cars leading to their death every year. These are usually very attentive and loving parents. How could you forgot your own child? Well I would like to use the analogy the book used, a block of Swiss cheese has holes yes? Well on this particular block, all the holes align causing the collapse of the block. That is basically what happens with these parents, one day their daily routine is thrown out the window, they forget to drop the kid off at day care, get to work and walk into the office. How do they not remember they left the kid? Well now that they are at work and back to their regular routine, it feels as if nothing new happened, in the parents mind, the child is at day care or with the nanny, so there is no need to check in. When the parent arrives to the car, they are struck by the horrific realization that their child has died. Should these people be convicted for man slaughter? I personally don't think so, it is human error, the death of their child should suffice more than enough for their mistake. They also should not be allowed to adopt.

I'm asking because I read an article about a woman named Lauren Casper who adopted a baby from Ethiopia and is learning and doing her hair. That made me think of full black and partial/half black who's parents aren't black nor do they know how to do hair and how their hair can be dry and matted and what not. I know not many, hardly any people who are non black know how to do African American hair. When an African-American woman goes to get her hair done or anything that has to do with her hair, her hair dresser is usually always the same ethnicity.
Would you trust a non black hair dresser who knew how to do your hair with your hair?
Sorry this question is not just for African American women, any black women of the world. (I had America on my mind when thinking of this)
