(Background: this girl and I are in college - and we have a couple of classes together, so we talk a little, but usually just in class and about school stuff, nothing deep or personal. We're friendly, but it's not like we ever hang out or anything.)

Last weekend I got free tickets to a dance at our school, so I texted her and asked if she'd want to go. (I would've liked to ask in person, but the dance is this week and the school basically gave us no notice it was coming up - so I wanted to ask her asap.) Basically I told her that I got free tickets and that I felt like she'd be an interesting person to go with.

She said yes and that it sounded like fun - but I can't figure out whether she thinks this is like a friends thing or a date. What would you think if it were you? I meant it in the date way for sure, but I'm not sure how to clarify that, or if I even need to clarify it, now after the fact - any ideas?

Also: I've seen her a couple of times in class since then, and she's not acting weird or different. We talk a little before class, just like we always do. (But then she's also kind of quiet and reserved, I don't really know how to read her, so I don't know if that means anything or not.)

This girl I really like asked me to a girls choice formal dance in high school. We have been friends since 3-6th grade but 7-10th never had a class so we just said hi in the halls. This year she is in two of my classes and we would never really talk to each other until she asked me. Right after she asked me she gave small signs she liked me like talking nervously and I would catch her looking at me in class and she would look away. She asked me to go on a hike with her friend before the dance to get to know each other and I went with her and she seemed interested in me but not so much. We would text a bit and I could feel her open up to me. The day of the dance/date she seemed pretty into me. She laughed at almost everything I said and we talked a lot. During the dance she asked if I liked running and said we should go running sometime. Then during a slow dance she said we should go country swing dancing. I told her I suck and said my friends are better fit for taking her but she said that's fine ill go with you. But then things changed. We watched a movie after the dance at her house and she started telling me about her awkward dates and she then told me how she wants to date multiple people and not date the same person. After that during the doorstep hug i started to leave and she reminded me and said we should go running and country dancing. And i don't know if she really wants me to take her or not because it contradicts what she said before about not dating the same person. She talks to me now a lot more. She slowly is starting to flirt with me over text. Her friends start talking to me and saying hi. In person she makes an effort to talk to me. In fact she waited in the lunch line with me even though she didn't need it... My friends say she likes me and I should take her. A few friends say she might want to be just friends. But I have no idea though. So does she like me and wants me to take her running and dancing? Or is just as a friend? Or does she not even want to go at all? If I should take her should I wait some time before asking her?
