To me, all of the above arguments make sense, but I have only once tried to maintain a friendship with a former girlfriend. I broke up because, after two years, she did not love me and was not a dedicated girlfriend and I did not want to waste the rest of my life on her. We had a tremendous span of common interests and we could have been good friends if we had not first been lovers. After a few months of seeing her just sporadically, I realized that I as trying to hang on to the hope that she would want me. I realized that what I was doing was pathetic and I simply let go of her.

Have you ever tried to be just platonic friends with a former friends with benefits, bf/gf. or spouse? How did it work for you?

my girlfriend was in a relationship with a guy for about 3 years (15 to 18 )
they broke up after he moved away, and after about 7ish month i began dating her

another couple of months and he moved back. They began talking (at the time i disnt know who he was) and the three of us hung out alot- and still do

now- me and her are in a fantastic relationship still, and ik that her and her ex still have feelings for eachother but it doesn't affect our relationship.

but.. im also attracted to her ex, he's got a great build and he's funny as hell and tbh we have flirted abit but nothing extreme or too far.

now... im wondering if, since we all get along, they still like eachother, i like them, and they like me, if i should bring up the idea of a poly relationship to them
