80s Scottish pop-rock/alternative rock bands active during the late 80s mostly. Most of them had some success during the 90s as well, especially Texas with their late 90s album “The Hush”

Although during the late 80s they were more of an alternative rock band basically, and not a pop-dance band…. mostly known 4 their song “I Don’t Want A Lover” back then…their album could b kinda better I guess, if most songs followed the same pattern as “I Don’t Want A Lover”

Deacon Blue would probably b my choice among those groups…I liked both of their 80s albums, especially “When The World Knows Your Name”…it had some hell of singles…. like “Wages Day”, ”Real Gone Kid” or “Fergus Sings The Blues”

Del Amitri released a mediocre debut, but they made it up with a much better 2nd album basically…pretty nice.

Soup Dragons…oh well, that would b my least favorite among the list, but I liked the band’s name basically…. LOL

Slide was a 1-album-band…. and they had only 1 minor hit back then, ”Why Is It a Crime?”.
Unfortunately the rest of the album, wasn’t as good as “Why Is It a Crime?” :-/

Gary Numan's popularity declines more and more since the release of his album "Telekon" in 1980.

But in 1989 he made a colaboration with Bill Sharpe, Shakatak's keyboardist and they released the remarkable album "Automatic". Automatic was way much better than his later works in the 80s after Telekon, so it was a comeback album somehow.

Unlike Numan's albums with the "cold" electronic music and "mechanical" lyrics... this album was a different one.

Accessible synth-pop with female backing vocalists, and more simple lyrics... as well the production was way much better than his previous efforts

so Automatic is my choice
