I met him almost 9 years ago. We had a rough start to "us". Dating and having a fall out shortly later (like most high schoolers), lost touch for awhile and then came back together; but never giving up on eachother, in a sense. We always stayed in contact. For the past 3 years we have been the best of friends; though seeing eachother has been rough since our work schedules prevent it. But we speak daily; most of the time all day. I have been in love with him since I was 16 but it has been a rocky road to travel. He is extremely emotionally guarded and very rarely will he let his tough exterior soften for a moment to let someone get to know him. That is, with everyone aside from me. I know him like its my second nature; and he knows me the same. He told me he loved me in February; a drunken text sent late at night. Then told me the next day that he had meant it. However, he lets his fear of me leaving prevent him from taking anything further. In fact he has always let his fear of anyone leaving control his entire life. All his relationships being brief and short lived.
I went to see him this past weekend after being apart for a solid 8 months. He was having a house party for the McGregor vs Mayweather fight. He was all over me; to say the least. Very affectionate. Kissing and hugging me in front of all of his friends (which is a rarity for him as he is very reserved). Kept telling me how happy he was that I was there; the whole 9 yards. Now most people would say "Why not go for it? He obviously likes you". I know he does. However, the depth of his emotional unavailability is endless. He let's you in just enough to see the darker side of him and then cuts you off when you are too close. I know there may be a chance; later down the road that is. But there are endless hoops to jump through. He is worth it to me. He truly is. But would you, in my position, keep jumping at the expense of this man? Any advice is appreciated.

So we've known each other for years but recently we went on vacation together (we're both in high school by the way so it was a family thing) and he made me 100% think he liked me then he suddenly started acting weird. This is what happened, for two nights in a row we were sitting side by side on this huge leather couch. Shoulders and arms touching, on a couch that could easily fit 4. So when the rest of his brothers went up to go to bed for both nights he stayed down with me until like 3 in the morning. Then he'd do things like take my phone so I'd need to crawl over him to reach for it, and he'd lean over me when I was typing in my password so he could see it... both evenings we were just both very close. He would also try and scare me by suddenly grabbing my hips or my shoulders and saying "BOO!" When we went swimming he'd pretend to push me in then grab me one time while night swimming he went under me and grabbed my leg to scare me. So he'd tease me like that. He'd also take videos of me on snapchat and send them to me but then he also saved them. When we were watching a scary movie his brother sent a text saying, "I'm watching you." So he said, "fuck off." I guess it could mean anything. Also his mom saw us together and commented to my mom that she thought he had always liked me. Anyway, the next day he just seemed off and didn't talk to me like... at all... when he was even offered the chance to sit next to me he declined and went to bed. His mom and my mom told me it's because they think that his brother knows or thinks he likes me and was bothering him about it, his brother was also was being more physical with me (me and his brother are friends too but it's very platonic so he touchy, he'd grab my shoulders and hug me or swing me around things like that) which they thought perhaps made him annoyed and behave the way he did.

So he went for being all over me, to nothing. What's the deal? I'm worried and confused, please I would love your input and opinion! :/
