What is your opinion, and why?

I personally feel like girls are, mainly because it seems that chicks have the tendency to be hyper-critical. I feel like society/the media shares a part of the blame in this, because of the ridiculous standards and constant needless comparisons of women. I think we feel pressure to look perfect, to BE perfect, and as such, any girl who seems to be more "perfect" in certain areas than us is viewed as a threat. However, I can't say that my opinion is objective because I haven't experienced the world from a guys point of view. So, agree or disagree?

So this girl I grew up with was very competitive with everything. Her dad put her down and compared her to me. She would say little things about my looks school everything so I never considered her a friend. She seemed intimated by me. Long story short she changed and I was as docile and friendly as possible. Then I showed my truly bold and funny self and she stepped back. Eventually she seemed to like hanging out with me. She's white, *very* rich and does well in school, knows a lot of people but is lonely. I'm black and some people think I'm very attractive, in the "middle class" and i do extremely well in school. But I'm very shy and I have extremely strict parents which can make me feel excluded. All of her friends are from different races but they act "white" (listen to the same music, shows, act a certain way, do their hair a certain way lol). so it's hard. We started hangout a lot. She started talking to me a lot more and even fixing my clothes and telling me things like "you're growing up." Today she asked our other friend if she would like to go see a movie and said "we can work everyone else around you if you'd like." And she didn't pay attention to me. (Maybe she thought I wasn't allowed to go, but she could have asked. )
Does she want to be friends with me or not? She gonna hangout with me 2x this weekend but still. I feel hurt.
