My guy friend of 3 years has always been super attentive to me, sweet, devoted like a puppy. He is always as close to me as he can get and touches my upper arm, shoulders, lower back, lets his hand rest too long on mine if he hands me st, holds eye contact forever, has played with my hair, notices EVERY little thing about my appearance, has fed me off his spoon after he'd used it, presses his arms/thighs into mine when we sit side by side and he's said he loves me, just not romantically. We tease each other a LOT and he calls me "girl"/"woman" and pretends like he's mad. He wanted to buy me a gift for "putting up with" him. He told me recently that I've been his other fave person (besides gf) for two yrs. he's been with her 18 mos.

We've both been taken the whole time we've been friends but we have become emotionally intimate and it feels like more than just friends. We messaged and texted ALL summer and talked about everything under the sun, deep stuff, silly jokes, how he's bored with his gf and wants to be free this year to "kindle new flames". He's asked me about sexual things I might be into, like bdsm, hook ups with friends, 3ways, pd sex, but the racier the q, the more he plays it off like jk, wasn't REALLY asking! But he's told me he likes me boobs and complains that gf has a boys body. He's asked me to brush stuff off his butt and never moves away if I put my hand on his thigh or play his hair/stroke his face. He's shown every sign of liking me but won't make a move. He says he hates cheaters but aren't we already cheating emotionally? He said he couldn't take the shame of kissing another girl while he has a gf. He said he doesn't want to hurt her by breaking up bc she is so in love with him, much more than he is w/her. I'm getting sick of his wallowing in misery when he could just end it if he really is as unsatisfied as he says. I told him today that I think it's unrealistic to think one person could meet all your needs/desires. What should I do?

What are your opinions in public demonstrations of love?

When I'm dating someone I hate it when that person holds my hands on the street near people, because I feel like that gesture is like putting a string on me and saying to everyone "she's mine, back off".

Holding hands, giving kisses, hugging... do you like to do that with your bf/gf on public, like in college, coffee shop, street?

When I try to explain what I feel about, for example holding hands, to a guy he does not understand me and starts saying that it means I don't love him. That's not true. I just don't like to lose my personality. What if our relationship doesn't result, then every single guy that once saw me holding hands and kissing him will associate me to him and will never start any conversation with me. I think that I can show my love to that person in many other ways, like I know that any person that looks at the way I move, the way I smile and the way I look at my bf shows instantly what I feel about him, I don't think I have to actually demonstrate it THAT much in public situations, I don't think it's classy.
