So this weekend, I was hanging with two close friends of mine (a couple) who are several years older than me. We were all drinking a lot and when I mentioned that I've had poor luck with dating recently, she suggested that I date this friend of hers who is a few years younger. I'm 22, this girl is 19. When she told me what this girl is like and showed me a picture, I thought I'd give it a try. My friend then called her late at night, we were all pretty drunk which definitely did not help. Regardless, this girl asked to meet me the next morning, which I did, even though I showed up in casual clothes, hungover and smelling like smoke and alcohol, as I was not planning on any such event happening.

When we met, I quickly realized that we are just not compatible. Personality-wise, we are very different. She is just way too innocent for me, not to mention she can't drive and lives 70 minutes away. (My friends live in the same town as her, I didn't drive hungover that far.) I also don't really find her all that attractive, like I probably would have swiped left on her on tinder.

Problem is, I think she now likes me. She has never had a boyfriend and is very shy and has low self-confidence. My friend knows her well enough to confirm all of that. I don't want to make this girl feel any worse about herself, like I'd be happy to be friends but not a relationship. My friend suggested that I try and be friends with benefits with her instead, as she thinks it would be good for both of us and get her confidence up. I personally would be just fine with that but feel it will backfire. What should I do?

I'm at a Barnes and Noble, and for some reason there's a kid who's literally punching the drinking fountain's button because it seems fun to do. His mom or dad is probably in one of the restrooms nearby, and could take awhile before they come out.

I walked away thinking that it's not my problem (it's Barnes and Noble's problem if the drinking fountain gets busted because of the kid), but now I'm thinking I probably should've said something.
