Search Results: getting into college parents

A friend of mine recently moved out of her parents house into an apartment on the other side of town. She doesn't have a job and her parents are paying for her rented unit until she can find one. The other day, I get an e-vite to her housewarming party... that she is hosting for herself. The e-vite stated that she is registered at several lofty shops and after researching, I found that many of her registry items are well over $100. I was quite perplexed.

In my opinion, you should absolutely never throw yourself a shower (it is in good manner to let a family member or friend throw one for you). Secondly, she is only renting and she doesn't pay her own rent, her parents do. Lastly, how can you expect your friends who are mostly recently out of college to afford things on your registry that are well over $100? I can see if you are getting married or BUYING a house... but renting an apartment?

So I guess what I am asking is... am I out of line for thinking this way? Should I still go to the party (I'd like to, after all, she is my friend) even though I don't really agree with the scenario? How should I approach it?
