There are various approaches to the issue of school dress codes.
I personally divided them into 3 categories:

1. Full uniform
2. Moderation on regular everyday clothing (explained below)
3. Total freedom of choice in clothing, only limited by the law (indecent exposure for example).

I'll cover some common argumets for each, plus details if needed. . These are not objective arguments, they are obviously disputable.

1. Full uniform
- Disciplines students.
- Limits discrimination, bullying based on financial or social status.

2. Moderation on regular clothing
- Limits deviant behaviour among the students.
- Protects the fame of the school.
- Teaches the students how to dress acceptably.

*Explanation as promised:*
"moderation" in this case refers to somewhat culturally conservative approach to clothing. For example, these could include (not necessarily):
- "respectable", decent appearance
- no really short shorts or short skirts
- pants pulled up to the waistline, with belt if necessary
- no dirty clothes
- no tears or obvious holes on any article of clothing, for fashion purposes or otherwise
- no deviant hairstyle - no hairdye, no extravagant hairdo
- no makeup or only moderate amount of makeup
- no spaghetti tops, low cut tops, practically any clothing with large cleavage
- no crop tops
- mandatory underwear
- no tank tops or low-cut gym clothes
- etc.

3. Total freedom of choice in clothing, only limited by the law
- "Fair play" - the kids should be able to wear whatever grownups are allowed to
- More creativity
- Less focus on clothing means more focus on learning
- Comfortable environment for learning leads to larger productivity

It seems as those as the thong becomes more unpopular girls are just wearing normal bikinis or cheekies with their yoga pants and leaving enormous pantie lines!

I understand it’s more comfortable, but it draws more attention

So I've personally always been a pants-only person ever since I was like 14-15... I only wear shorts if it's to the beach or pool, but other than that, literally never. Even though I live in Florida, and it can get hot at times. At that point I usually just wear more flowy, workout type loose pants.

But since I personally only wear pants, I take more note of people wearing shorts... and if their shorts go more than a hand above the knee, I have a habit of when greeting them to go, "Dang dude/girl! Those are some really short shorts! Someone gonna call the modesty police up in here, or you might get a sunburn on your legs!" as I give them a brofist or a high five. Which happens pretty often, since this is Florida, after all. I do this to both close friends and family members (my siblings and cousins, not mom/dad or aunts/uncles). And I do it to both males and females, if it matters.

Note, I don't keep constantly bringing it up, but when I first look at someone the first thing I notice is their clothing... and since I myself never show any leg, I notice when people show a lot of leg. That's all, lol.

Almost everyone is rather cool with it. They either just laugh or say something alone the lines of, "It's Florida, of course I'm gonna wear short shorts", or "Yep... and what are you doing in long pants on such a hot day?", or "This is regular length, what are you talking about dude? Haha."

But one of my female friends the other day was like, "Dear god, can you please stop bringing up the shorts thing every time you see me? I get it, you only wear pants, I prefer to wear shorts! I know you mean no offense, but it's honestly just getting annoying, and it's pretty weird, too! Like Jesus, have you never seen bare legs before? It's fucking Florida!"

And though we're still on good terms, she hurt my feelings, and made me re-consider my habits... I've gotten so used to it, and it feels so natural and right to do... but if it's weird and/or annoying, maybe I should stop... :(

So my girlfriend, who I've been with for about 2-3 months now, is obviously very tomboyish.

Just by looking at her you can't really tell, but you can sort of guess so. She never wears skirts and dresses... she only wears a dress on formal occasions. She usually just wears jeans or shorts. She also doesn't wear any make-up, or have any type of piercings... not even earrings. At work she says she wears pants instead of a skirt.

Her hair is also pretty short for a girl. I can't really describe it, but it's similar in length to Videl's (from DBZ) when she cut it while Gohan was teaching her how to fly. Sorry if that makes me sound like a weeaboo, but that's all I can compare it to, lol.

Personality-wise, she's also definitely a tomboy. Most of her favorite shows and movies and books all include some kind of violence and/or adventure or fighting... like Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad, Dexter, Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Friends, etc. She also loves many anime. She's also very physically active, and loves swimming and sports and soccer and the such.

But despite all this, her outfits are always just so cute, and she always smells so good, and her skin and hair just feel so silky and nice whenever I feel them.

When I brought this up to her despite her being so tomboyish, she laughed and replied with, "All because I'm a tomboy doesn't mean I'm not into fashion or that I don't take care of my skin and hair."

So are tomboys usually like her, with cute clothing choices, a good smell, and really soft skin and hair?
