Tall People Problems

Tall People Problems

Everyone has problems. These are tall people problems.

1. Going into any stall who's door does not reach the ceiling. Awkward peeing. Awkward dressing room encounters. Awkward.

Tall People Problems

2. Standing in line behind someone short who's on their phone texting, and they keep repeatedly looking back at you to check and see that you're not looking at their phone, when all you're doing is minding your tall business.

3. Being assigned the bottom locker for the entire school year in high school when your shorter friend gets the top one.

4. Having to live with clothing designers assumptions that you have to be morbidly obese to wear a larger size. There are apparently no tall thin people anywhere. A larger size, meant to help you with length, only means you'll be wearing a tent like top that is wider then it is longer.

5. Going to a concert or theater and being asked or rudely told to move to the back or out of the way even though you paid just as much for your seat as anyone else. No, you move!

Tall People Problems

6. Having to back up all the way across the room to see your whole self in a "floor length" mirror.

7. SPIDERWEBS

8. BRANCHES

9. FLIGHTS, TRAINS, BUSES, CARS, (I'm not done yet) MOTORCYCLES, URINALS, BIKES, BEDS, EXERCISE EQUIPMENT, AMUSEMENT RIDES, PLAYGROUND EQUIPMENT, STAIRS, DESKS, LOW CEILINGS, DANCING, DOOR FRAMES, SHOWER HEADS, BATHTUBS, SHOPPING CARTS, LOW COUNTER TOPS, SMALL FRIDGES, TRAVELING IN COUNTRIES WHERE THE AVERAGE HEIGHT IS PETITE, HEIGHT RESTRICTIONS...

Tall People Problems

10. Doesn't matter if you're busy or not, hearing "can you get that down for me," because you're apparently obligated by law to fetch anything a short person wants at any time they want it.

11. Looking back and seeing everyone you were walking with 10 paces behind trying to catch up.

12. (As a girl) being told you're never going to find a guy taller than you and are doomed to be single or that you can't/shouldn't date shorter men (As a guy) People assuming height equals automatic success in dating or struggling to find someone proportionate to your height if you're extremely tall. (Both) Friends/family hooking you up with literally anyone who is tall, just because they are tall, rather than actual quality.

13. Having to convince people that no, you don't play basketball, and yes you're apparently the only one that is tall that doesn't on the whole entire planet.

14. Being told they don't stock your size in store, so you'll have to order online or (shrugs), they don't even make YOUR size, followed by laughter.

15. The clothing food chain: Pants are capris. Dresses are shirts. Shirts are crop tops. Long sleeves are three quarter sleeve.

Tall People Problems

16. Being told, "you're tall," like it's a revelation.EVERY.SINGLE.TIME!

17. Having to share an umbrella with a shorter person or trying to walk through a crowd with your umbrella.

18. Neck and back cramps for looking down and trying to hunch to have a conversation with anyone.

19. The poop squat that you must assume in order to fit in frame in the picture with everyone else or to hug someone.

Tall People Problems

20. (Tall guys) People thinking you're aggressive because of your height, or young children being afraid of you

21. (When younger) having people assume and thus treat you like you're older then you are.

22. People who literally get offended when you wear heels.

24. Sitting in a chair and having your knees come up above your waist level.

25. For the really tall, people wanting to take your picture or just flat out taking your picture because either they believe you're on a basketball team or they want to show their friends this freakishly tall person they came across.

26. Knee pain and back pain as a result of trying to constantly fit everywhere.

27. Trying to blend in with a crowd.

Tall People Problems

28. That always awkward moment of having to raise the height of the mic or if you or someone else can't figure it out, having to lean over it.

29. Taking road trips with other tall people and fighting for any type of leg room.

30. That awkward moment when you actually meet someone taller than you. Being so used to being the tallest one all the time, it can feel like your superpower is taken away.

31. Being bullied over something you can't change, like your height.

Tall People Problems

32. Finding out that taller people don't live as long as their shorter counterparts. Those of a more average or marginally tall height, with good nutrition, live about 10% longer. Most centenarians worldwide are shorter than 5-foot-5.

33. Cold feet and hands

34. People volunteering you do to heavy lifting because tall also equals strong. It just does. For everyone. And if you aren't "everyone," hearing, "but you're tall!" Height and strength...not the same thing.
