Height issues! Tall girls!

On this myTake I am not going to talk about short guys or girls, but about tall girls,because people often don´t understand how they are feeling- yes they have height issues too.

I am a tall girl too. When I was 11 all my classmates,even guys where 5´2 whereas I was 5´8, so you can think of how bad I felt. I was even taller then the teachers and everytime they told me to reach for things. It made it even worse.Every single person asked me If I were in a basketball team,because of my height. Guys didn´t even look at me or flirt with me, they wanted shorter girls. I cried every day at home, my parents always told me to be proud of my height and that I could become a model.

I even begged God to become shorter, even if I knew it wasn´t possible. At least I didn´t get taller from then on.

At 14-15 guys started to become taller then me.They even flirted with me. I felt so good, and it was the time I didn´t care about my height again. I thought I am tall yes, but hey I should love it!

Here are some things that only tall girls will understand:

• People constantly asking you how tall you are. It happened to me a lot, but now no one asks me this question.


• People asking you if you play basketball or volleyball. I mentioned this one before, only because I am tall doesn´t mean I play basketball or volleyball!


• Having a hard time finding jeans. I have to admit, I have never had a problem finding clothes, but I know some tall women have!


• People constantly ask you to reach for things. I love helping you people, but you don´t have to remind me every single moment how tall I am.


• Thinking about wearing heels or not. As you know high heels are not only for looking taller, but they make you look more feminin and elegant. Girls are shorter then me even with high heels,but I still sometimes like wearing them. Girls, don´t ask me: why do you wear heels? You are tall, you don´t need them! I am goind to wear whatever I want, I won´t ask you. It is funny,that no guy ever asked me why I wear heels, but girls do it constantly. It seems that guys like them ;)


• You’ve been heckled at the movies, because someone’s kid can’t see over you.

But girls being tall has many advantages:

• You always have a great view at concerts and in movie theaters.


• Because of your height, you can get away with eating a lot more than other people. I eat a lot, so it is a big benefit for me!


• When you wear high heels you feel like a model.

  



• Tall is sexy and guys love tall girls. I know guys love short girls too, but if you are a confident tall woman, no one is sexier then you.


• Someone, at some point, has complimented your long legs. OH yes!!

What I also hate, is that some short girls(5´1-5´2) are always commenting in front of me: OH I am so happy with my height, I wouldn´t like to be taller because I wouldn´t be able to find a bf that easy. EMM thanks again for saying this in front of me.I mean I could say many things why I prefer being tall then short, but I don´t do it, so why do you do it??.

Anyway while you think you make me feel worse, I rock my body like this:

Don´t feel bad about being tall, girls!! Your height is great!
I can feel you and I know you can feel me too, don´t let people make you feel uncomfortable about your height.

Don´t forget:

You are never too tall to wear heels!

5'8 at 11? You're so lucky! I'm about to be 16 and I'm 5'8. My goal height is 5'10! I seriously want to be a model and I even got the opportunity when I was younger but my mom didn't let me do but yesss TALL GIRLS ROCK! I would hate to be short tbh. I love this MYTake by the way. I never was made fun of except by one girl who was just rude in general but I love my height.

dude I love tall girls. And short girls. Both.

But is 5'8" really considered tall? To me 5'10" + is considered truly tall for a girl.
But I'm 6'2" so I don't know, just relative I guess.

We had an intern at my firm, she played college basketball. She was smoking hot.

I know 5´8 may not sound that tall, but it is on the taller side.
It also depends on how tall your friends are. Most guys I know are taller then me but all girls I know are shorter then me. So they always tell me : wow you are so tall!

So ya a bit above avg there.

God thank you. I am getting so tired of having to defend my preference for tall guys due to my own height and being labeled as shallow when no one understands that being tall as a girl isn't always easy, either.

I was made fun of in school as well. I have more than come into my own since then and have decided being tall actually rocks :). You forgot another plus... we can get away with some smaller weight fluctuations as height can hide the sneaky 5-10 pounds that catch us off guard.

I am also handy for helping strangers reach a box on the top shelf at a store, lol.

To be honest, I'm always a bit surprised that people are so eager to wear high heels. They're bad for your feet! The fact that we link it with "femininity" is arbitrary, similarly to how the Chinese used to bind women's feet to make them "tiny".

That, and it's girls who want to feel "more feminine" by wearing high heels, and being shorter than their partner. I'll never really understand what is so important about either of this. :p

That, and people ask you to fetch something for them because you can actually reach it.

I think your attitude about being tall is so cool. I love it. I'm a tall guy and I can relate to some of what you described going through (but obviously not all because it is somewhat different for guys who are tall.) I think tall girls are absolutely gorgeous. Whatever you think of her music, I think Taylor Swift has been a great role model for tall girls.

I'm not tall but I love tall women, especially those who unapologetically rock their height! Wear your heels because you're gorgeous tall women, feel beautiful and confident because you are. Tall women that aren't models or model sized don't get nearly enough appreciation as they deserve so until then love yourself!

5'8" Is great for a girl. Since when is that tall, anyways? I mean, if you're dealing with midget guys, sure, but for us normal height men, it's just perfect. Gives two inches space so you still have to tilt your head back to kiss us, and you can wear heels without making us look goofy.

I like really tall women as much as I like really small women. I've been with 5'9, 5'11, 6'2 women. I dig on it when they wear high-as-hell heels. Doesn't bother me one bit. And I enjoy the tough of them wrapping their legs around my head a few times with those looooong legs.

by the way, I'm 5'2 and like I said... Taller the better. Or shorter than I am.

Just because a short girl likes her height doesn't mean she has a problem with yours. Seriously, you don't have to tear down the one to build up the other.

5'8 is the PERFECT height for a girl! Tall enough to be elegant, charismatic and have long legs yet still shorter than most guys. No one can turn heads like tall girls can! Luckily I'm tall too so I get to date tall girls. I know it's harder for short guys and I feel for them.

Alright so when i was a leader at sports camp there were these 7 girls... i'm 5'11 and 5 of them were either taller or the same height. I feel so damn short lol, the guys were all above 6' and again i was the shortest guy lol. I felt too short for my liking >.< I was beside this girl who was 6'2, and she wanted to take a pic and i told her to kneel down a tiny but, and she began laughing lol.

Good that you're proud of your height! Im 5'3 (1.61 m) myself and at times I wish I was taller as well. 5'8 is actually quite a normal height. But then again, where I'm from we have some of the tallest people in the world so yeah.

I'm 184cm tall (~6ft) and I don't remember ever having any of these things bother me (except for finding clothes). Now I kind of feel bad for other girls who are tall. I've always saw it as being quite practical being tall (or funny when hugging shorter people)

Lol I was also 5'8 at 11. Now I'm 5'11. I WISH I was still 5'8.

It's not just jeans. It's all clothes. Shirts, jackets, dresses etc. All too short. Oh, and public transport, so uncomfortable because I have long legs.
