My boyfriend and I have been together for a year and our relationship has been great. We’ve had small fights here and there and would any other couple, but nothing like this. He has been under a lot of stress recently due to losing his job as well as family issues. We got into an argument about a week ago at a friends bbq, it was a very stupid argument but he ended up saying a few hurtful things and I told him that even though he’s under a lot of stress that’s not an excuse to say hurtful things to me.

Since that argument he reached out a few times but the texts were cold and distant and unlike him. The last text I received from him is this “I’m so upset I’ve been thinking about our argument all day. I don't know how we’ll ever get past this” and then - nothing. I’ve tried to call several times and text him but it’s been complete silence. I know he is OK because he has been watching my snap stories and has been active on FB.

I also reached out to his mother and his aunt (I have a relationship with most of his family) and she said she hasn’t been able to reach him either. I am at a loss of what to do at this point because I feel like although I love him and want to support him, there’s only so much patience I can have when he won’t even communicate with me. I also don’t know if this means we’re over because he won’t talk to me at all after several attempts. For reference, every other argument we’ve had over the course of our relationship we’ve talked about almost immediately and resolved so this is why this is even more shocking.

Hi everyone. My boyfriend (ex now) & I were dating for 7 years & on Monday of this week he decided to break up w/ me. We have been in a tough spot for about 3 in a half weeks however we’ve still continued to work things through together. Sometime beginning of last week we got into a bit of an argument & my cousin (she lives w/ me) overheard some of the argument & I guess in a way to come to my “defense” she said to my boyfriend “I hope you get coronavirus & die”. A few moments passed he called me to express how her saying that made him feel & he said that he’s now uncomfortable being w/ me because of what she said to him. He continued to say that “if she can say that about me what will she say about my family”. Of course him saying he’s now uncomfortable being w/ me didn’t sit well w/ me however I apologized to him on her behalf & said to him that what she said was wrong & I would never wish that. He said that it’s not my fault & there’s nothing I should be sorry for and after that I asked him if he really felt uncomfortable being with me and he said yes. He hasn’t spoken to me for about 3 days and I texted him and said he needs to give me some answers on how we can move forward. He said that what my cousin said aggravated him, he doesn’t want to be bothered by me, and he’d rather remove himself from the “situation” and he broke up with me. We’ve been together for 7 years & I just can’t believe he would throw it all away because of that. I respect his feelings and understand that what my cousin said he didn’t like but to break up with me for it? To hurt me for it? I don't know. I would never break up w/ him over something like that simply because I wouldn’t necessarily let someone who has absolutely nothing to do w/ our relationship influence my decision to stay/leave. I thought our love, our bond, was stronger than that especially considering everything we’ve been through. I am so heartbroken. Am I wrong for thinking his decision to break up with me is ridiculous?
