Okay, I know what you're thinking... she's suggesting we watch those Indian movies where people keep randomly dancing?
Yes, that is exactly what I'm suggesting because believe it or not, Bollywood is a lot more than just the random dancing or the excessive melodrama. Trust me on this one. Now, here are five movies you might want to give a shot especially if you've run out of Tom Cruise movies to watch(cuz I certainly have).
1) Gully Boy: This movie is relatively new and it's about rapping! Yes, Indians do rap and it's actually not as bad as you think. If you've ever watched 8 Mile and enjoyed it, you might end up liking this one. Now, I'm not very good at synopses so here's what other people wrote:

2) Raazi: Now this one is a personal favorite that kept me on my toes the entire time. A strong female character? Check. A badass spy fighting for her country? Check. Just a lot of badass-ness? Check. Here's the synopsis:
"An Indian spy marries a Pakistani man during the Indo-Pakistan War of 1971." This movie is a true story, and to see a normal girl turn into this amazing spy trying to save her country is just awesome. You won't have people randomly jumping into a dance don't worry, but there are some songs nothing too crazy though. It's on Amazon prime!
3) Jab We Met: Don't worry you rom-com lovers, I haven't forgotten about you. This movie is by far my favorite on-screen couple and relationship. Yes, it does have songs and dances and it's a bit old but watch for the love.
"Aditya, a heartbroken tycoon on the verge of committing suicide, aimlessly boards a train. He meets Geet, a high-spirited girl who plans to elope with her lover, and finds himself pulled into her crazy life." Also, it's on Amazon Prime!
4) 3 Idiots: Okay, now this one is a classic. It was super popular in India and also other countries. Spain even made a remake, the 3 Idiotas. Bit of a warning on this one, this is a classic Bollywood movie. I mean we have the dancing, the abnormal characters, etc etc .
But but but but... this one is so heartwarming. The movie is about the relationship of three friends as they navigate through the stress and pressure that comes with university life and society! It's on Netflix y'all.
5) Andhadhun: This movie is a huge WTF film. I mean, if you don't say WTF at least once while watching this, then you're not human. It's such a WTF movie that there is no synopsis on this planet that could justify it. None.
Here's one attempt:
"Akash, a piano player pretending to be visually-impaired, unwittingly becomes entangled in a number of problems as he witnesses the murder of a former film actor." It's on Netflix, and trust me, just give it a chance.

You know, I've been looking into watching some South Indian movies! Any suggestions that are on Netflix or Amazon Prime?
Also, those Bollywood movies are great as well (Uri is a personal favorite)! I wanted to pick some films that are a bit suitable for the International audience which is why I didn't add those.
