My wife came up to me and told me about this trip she wanted to take with her brother, asking if it would be okay if she could go. Well, I'll never tell her she can't do anything (except cheat) and said "sure".

What I'm trying to process is she told me she didn't think I would care if she went on a trip with her brother. Well, I'm okay with her taking a trip, but going to a third world country in South America is a little different than going to Disney World... At least in my opinion it is.

Another issue I'm struggling with is we never took a honeymoon and now she's planned a very exotic trip to a foreign country with her brother and not her husband. I don't want to be Mr. Controlling, so I haven't really said much about it, although when the trip is brought up, I feel a bit sad inside. I believe the fact she didn't even consider how I'd feel is what's making me a bit bummed, because if I were ever presented with an opportunity to go anywhere I wouldn't even think of doing so without my wife or at least making sure she was invited. But, I guess we're all different.

She did throw me a bone and said I could come "BUT" she was afraid if that happened, her brother would feel like a third wheel. First of all, I did not ask if I could come along, but she ended up lobbing a half-hearted invite out of duty because I was a bit confused about it (I didn't get mad or mope, but she could tell it bothered me). Secondly, there's no way I want to make somebody resentful by stuffing myself into something where I was not part of the original plan and I feel like I'm being offered out of duty.

I don't feel the need to be involved in every detail of her life. She went and visited her brother last year for the weekend, and that sucked as I missed her, but she is entitled to visit friends and family and have a good time. I just find it strange she talked about going on self-help retreats with her brother and then sprung the trip on me while I'm sitting here thinking: "Um, you have a husband that mig
