My sister's boyfriend sold me a car last summer, and I wanted to hear your take on the chaos that ensued.

boyfriend finds an old car that appears to be in good working order. Knowing that I was in need of a vehicle, he offers to sell it to me for a discounted price. He claims that the vehicle was in good shape, and had recently gotten a new engine put in.

I buy the car off of him with a partial payment, with other half coming in a couple weeks.

Immediately after I buy the car, the oil light comes on. Assuming that it was an electrical issue (the light flicked off and on, and the boyfriend said that the oil was dirty and needed to be changed), I continued to the drive the car for another ~100 miles. I know, I know... But I genuinely thought it was an electrical issue. I was about to get the oil change once I got paid.

Well eventually the engine seizes on me (the light was flickering when I would hit the gas, it didn't stay on) , and it turns out that the engine was dry, not a drop of oil in it. We take the car to a mechanic, and the part that failed was the crank shaft chain, which is not a part that typically fails when you drive a car without oil. Basically, it was NOT clear that my actions resulted in the car failing.

As time goes on, and we investigate the car, it turned out that the car was absolutely not what the boyfriend had claimed the car was. It did not have an engine replacement, he over charged me, it leaked oil like no one's business, the list went on and on.

The boyfriend tried to demand that I give him the remainder of the money. Eventually he gave me my money back, broke up with my sister, and resold the car. So what's your opinion?

Should he have given the money back, or did I owe him the remaining balance?

This came on my mind today, for example when people get new phone or car or something new they are just so careful like please watchout there is my phone u gonna scratch it but why people NEVER care about body? There are million overweight peoples and million too skinny people and they just dont care? God gave you life and 1 chance to live, you can't buy new body but you can buy new phone, why people dont realize that its once in life and that they have to be careful about their body? I understand that some people are not able to workout or to eat healty (money problem) but lets be real most people go and buy sweets, after that get some junk food and get really unhealthy things in their body, but when they scratch phone they panic.
You may not see results now but it will come with years, its like computer , if you keep him clean, delet junky stuff and detect viruses it will live longer but if you go and get virus and a lot usless games/programms he gonna die soon, same with people body.

2 days ago I seen at least 3 homeless military vets begging for money as the cars driven by, and it made me very sad. I HATE seeing homeless people in general (if I could buy every last one of them a home, I would). One sign said "military vet need food", and another one said "will work for food". I couldn't see what the other one said. I used to didn't feel sorry for them or any other homeless person bc I felt like it was there fault that they're in that predicament.

I was wondering why the US government doesn't make sure the vets are well taken care of. The US government waste billions of tax payers money annually.
