I'm in a tough situation. I've come to realize that while I do value the relationships I've had in the past, I'm not cut out for monogamy. I have never cheated and I purposely try to float somewhere one step further than friends with benefits but one step behind a full on relationship so I have an out. But I REALLY like this cool ass Turkish chick I'm seeing now and I have "committed" to her more than others in the past but I'm still not with the monogamy. It might make me more of an ass than just cheating depending on who you ask, but I have broken up with a girl in an otherwise perfectly fine relationship for no other reason than I wanted to see other women. Because I'd rather do that and end things as amicably as possible rather than burn all bridges, be an ass and cause uneeded distress by cheating. But that's where this changes, because I don't want to break up with this girl at all but at the same time I am cognizant of the fact and will admit that I am kind of manipulating her emotions and feelings for me by trying to get her to be into open relationships and it's making me feel kinda icky. Should I just break up with her, how would you feel?

Long story short, once upon a time I found myself involved with a lady who happened to have a husband.
One day while I was out with some of my friends, I received a call from her and I instead offered if she would like to hang with us.
She agreed, and when the night was coming to a close I asked my friends what do they think about her, noting that she is someone who likes to have fun.

I guess I misread the situation and her intent for being there, because she pulled me aside and started with "what the fuck is that supposed to mean?" and that "that's (fun) not what this is for me".
After that outburst she left, noting that she doesn't want for us to meet anymore.

Boy, was I confused.
Was the prospect of ménage à quatre simply a wake up call?
Is telling oneself that there is something more to it a common way one's ego tries to justify itself in these situations?
If it is perceived as anything more than an outlet, why remain in one's original relationship?
