I ask this out of experience and I can say, it definitely isn't. at all. sure, I've gotten one irl relationship that went ok for a few months, but the rest were only online and they didn't last long at all.

As for my chances and experiences with other girls irl, it always seems like they won't date me BECAUSE I'm the nice guy.

In junior year of HS, I asked my close friend of over a year who had been flirty with me if she would date me: "Yeah, but after we get in a better place mentally. then I think I'll be able to handle a relationship" (we both have depression) and not a week goes by and she texts me "you probably already know but me and (my friends name) are dating now."

Another friend from when I just got into highschool basically led me on, allowing me to pay for tickets and meals whenever we hung out, and she went and chose another guy without saying anything to me. And to this day she doesn't feel and guilt or think that she did anything wrong.

I ask this question about being the Good or Nice Guy now because of last night, when one of my new friends that I was planning to meet up with at Anime Expo for the first time (who knows I've been crushing on her for 2 months) suddenly told me that she was dating someone online last night. This comes after she tells me we couldn't date because she couldn't handle online relationships, and the girl she's dating now is the one I gave advice about in order to save their friendship a few months ago.

Side question: is it normal to feel like your chest is completely void of anything after all of this?
