My childhood best friend and I have been friends for 9 years. I'm 16 (junior) and she's 15 (sophomore), so there's no awkward age gap. We used to laugh together, cry together, spend everyday or weekend together for the first 7 years. We both knew things about each other that no one else knew. We shared that kind of "sisterly" bond. High school came around and we started getting interested in other things. I understood that we will no longer be able to hang out everyday or spend every weekend together, but I would have never thought we would only talk to each other once a week with only a 3 message conversation. The last 3 years had been rough between her and me. I started going to martial arts every day and she joined the drill team, but I continued to message her every time I could within the day. When I met my two close friends at martial arts and also my boyfriend, I've notice she had became defensive and jealous, just as I became defensive of my spot as a best friend with her when she would tell her friends stuff she never told me. There has been several times in our relationship that we had stopped talking because of her ditching me, or flirting with my ex (my ex and I were still dating at the time) or her lying to me. I had flipped out every time she did that so I'm pretty sure that gave her a reason to stop talking to me. Recently I confronted her about us not being best friends, she said we were still best friends and that I shouldn't say we aren't. That all changed when I stated that things just doesn't feel the same anymore, because she agreed. When we do get together, it's a task. *Fast Forward to the near future* When I graduate, I'm moving to Cali with my future husband/current boyfriend and she's going to a foreign country to attend college.. Is this friendship over or am I overreacting? If I'm overreacting, how do I fix this?
