Girls, When a guy texts "wyd" what do you say?

So my friend thinks she's like the master of flirting. She found out I was texting a guy and she had to give me all of her advice. So the guy texts me "wyd". So I just texted back that I was watching a movie. She immediately got annoyed with me. She thinks that whenever a guy texts "wyd" you should always something "flirty" like "I just got out the shower" or "I'm in bed thinking about you" even if you're lying. So what do you think?

Well, it depends on who the guy is and where you want things to go with him.

Just be true to yourself and say whatever you want. Personally, I prefer to flirt in person until I really get to know a guy and his intentions. I like taking things slow and keeping some mystery in my texts. Everyone's different, though.

"Watching a movie" is sort of a boring response, though -- you could make it more interesting by specifying what movie it is and giving a little comment about it.

I usually don't reply and I wish people would stop condoning lazy communication, which leads to lazy behavior.

Most people that "wyd" are lazy communicators and they don't really care what you're doing, it's just a means to try to keep a pointless, never ending text going.

And, most guys that lazily text "wyd" late at night hope that it'll lead to sex, as it usually does.

Do what you feel and don't listen to your friend, it's stupid to lie as a reply to lazy text. My typical reply is no reply, because an intelligent male isn't going to do typical things like text "wyd".

Haha your friend makes me laugh :) She's right, that is a good way to flirt with him. But when a guy asks what your doing, all you have to do is tell him. Being flirty is good but being too flirty can be annoying.

honestly, wyd is just an easy conversation starter, at least with my own experience, just tell him either A your busy or B nothing, how about you? mostly because us men are simple minded creatures and dont spend all to much time deciding how were gonna talk to someone and we just say "whatcha doin?"

Good grief! Your friend is setting it up for the guy to instantly think sex from texts. And that sets up a pretty crappy investment if she really likes a guy back. If a guy texts you WYD, then text him back an honest answer. Better to have a real text conversation than have it turn all sexual from the start. You are better than that.
