Is violence an intrinsic part of being human, or will there come a point where violence becomes an anachronism?

The ape part of our brains. Some people have it better under control than others. Realistically uncontrolled violence is always counter productive. Even if you win a war you lose in today world because everyone around you exploited your financially during the war. Of course there is the controlled violence or threat of violence but the trick is to use others to commit violence against your opponent and not doing it by yourself.
In regard of anachronism. at some point turns escalation to normality and people do things they wouldn't do few months back. I don't think guys who eliminate Russian contractors in Ukraine with drones and smile on their face thought few years back they become mass killers. It's a part of environmental normalization.
You have a point.
I think it's intrinsic to humans at varying degrees. For example some people are just violent and want to be violent. Some would only get violent as a last resort. I would defend myself or anyone I love if I have to but would never want to. I don't like fighting despite having been in a few in my day. (Not in a really long time). I hope that one day it does become a thing that future generations will look back at us and be completely perplexed at wtf we were doing. They won't understand violence and it will be a completely stupid concept. That's the hope. We can't advance to our fullest potential by killing each other. It's stupid.
Pretty much every country and civilization throughout history had an army. Even today you'll find places people are starving, have no school, or hospitals, but there's always an army. Go to any poor neighbourhood in any country in the world and there's violent crime and an attitude it's OK to sort things out with violence.
The decent among us like to think we're civilised and violence is merely the resort of the uneducated and unrefined but what we're really lacking is permission. Give people the idea that violence is justified and we quickly return to caveman ideology.
Good question Nikki. Nothing that's human is foreign to us, meaning violence is in all of us, in a more or less high degree, which in the far past of species on earth has been a necessity in order to survive. The key here is self-consciousness, and accepting whatever tendencies are present in us.
Things in modern societies, as those at the moment in France, go wrong because of different kinds of frustration, and a lack of self-control. Mind that things can only but go wrong when basic instincts are constantly thwarted...
It's not violence in itself that may become an anachronism, but the random and uncontrolled use of it. To a real democratic well balanced society, the worldwide ongoing amok becomes an anachronism.
a. self interest. There will always be circumstances in which breaching the social covenant against individual violence will be an opportunistic strategy for some.
b. people act against their self-interest, rightly conceived, all the time. Random violence and evil happens.
Violence is an intrinsic part of life on Earth, period. That will never change because, as far as life on Earth is concerned, violence is part of the fabric of the life.
I don’t like violence, but many people have it deep within themselves... genes from the time of cavemen.
Violence has no place in a civilized society.

violince is my :home, sae thing, soloution, problem etc.
Its human nature. Always will be.
I think so. People tend to self destructive.
Unfortunately, the former.
