Girls, what does it mean when you ask a guy to text you when he gets home?

What does it mean when you ask a guy, after you’ve been hanging out with him on a given day but you aren’t actually dating, to text you when he gets home?

Would you only do this with a guy you have feelings for or do you do this with people in general regardless of romantic feelings?

The ‘text me when you get home’ ask or similar feels like something that two people dating or in a relationship would ask of each other, or if the woman otherwise has feelings for the guy, or between female friends after a night out; but maybe that’s just me.

A good friend has done this with me the last couple of times we’ve hung out. I’m wondering if she might be catching feelings for me haha

It honestly depends on the girl.
Some girls would do that because they want to talk to you more, as friends.
Other girls might be doing it because they want to get to know you more, and maybe have feelings.
Another reason could be because she has nothing better to do and enjoys talking to you.
Or maybe she wanted to tell you something once you where home.
