With Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) being celebrated, I’ve been thinking about the loved ones who are no longer with us. I think it’s such a beautiful tradition, honoring their lives and keeping their memories alive.

If you could have just one more day with someone you miss dearly, how would you spend it? Would you do something special, revisit a favorite memory together, or simply enjoy being in their presence again?

My grandpa. He is one of the few people in my dad's side of my family that actually cared about me. He was so SO loving, was quiet but wise with his words and advice, and great sense of humor. He loved turkey legs at Thanksgiving. So if i could one more time i would be at the table eating turkey with him and us talking about life. From the time i was a baby till in my teens, every time he visited he would take me and we walked all the way around the property. Talking and/or just enjoying time in nature. If i could with him again id do that too, he would adore the farmland im on now.
Thanks for sharing that… I can tell he was awesome … and left a great mark on you. 🩵…
Is there a song that reminds you of him?
Yep. He was a very faithhful man to his christian beliefs and he had this one song called "i can only imagine" by MercyMe he loved and also requested to be played at his funeral. I play it every year on the day he passed to remember him ❤️
One other is "simple man" by lynyrd skynyrd. The advice the person gives in the song is much like what he passed to my dad then to me
You probably already know that it would be time spent with my late boyfriend Patrick.❤️
I would just want to talk and be playful together like always. Cook him a big steak that he loved to eat.
This time of year, well in the Fall 🍂 🍁 I would like to hold hands and go for a walk around the big block I live in. I taught him the names of the trees. He would get some eucalyptus off the tree and we would smell it together and enjoy nature.
Of course we would kiss 💋 and
hug 🫂 a lot. He loved being touched. 🥲
RIP Patrick John ❤️ 🍪 🥛
Definitely my mom. I’d take her to The Kentucky Derby. She loved horses and The Triple Crown (I think she got into it when Secretariat was alive and winning), and she said she always wanted to go to The Derby and wear one those big hats, haha. I wish she could’ve gone in her lifetime.
Awww… that is so sweet 🥹…. I can just imagine how happy she would’ve been, especially getting all dressed up in one of those big hats lol
I used to close the windows when the races started on TV when I was growing up, because she would be SCREAMING, lmfao. “No horse in the race”, so to speak, but she was just rooting for all of them at the same time. “GET ‘EMMMMMMMMM!!!”🤣🤣🤣 Mom Dukes was a wild lady, lmfao. The type of people at The Derby wouldn’t have known what to do with her😝
Lmaooo She sounds like she was such a fun woman! My granny was the same way whenever she’d watch basketball games. She’d be hollering at that TV like the players could actually hear her 😭…
I’d make sure I get to tell them that I will never forget them, that they made an impact in my life one way or another and that their loved ones will be looked after as well…, I’ve lost many people who looked very healthy but weren’t open about their conditions till after their passing…
i spend every second apoligizing for not being a good great grand daughter. i lost my great grandpa in feburary
Oh…I’m so sorry for your loss. Please don’t spend your days beating yourself up over what you wish you had done differently. None of us are perfect, and sometimes we don’t realize how precious certain moments are until they’re gone.
I’m sure your great grandpa knew you loved him. Be gentle with yourself 🩵
I would like to spend it with my mom reminiscing. And I would like to tell her how much I appreciate all she did for me. I don't think I did much of that when she was alive. She died of cancer in 1997 when I was 43 years old but she was in bad shape for two years prior.
Doing what we loved goofing off and having fun he deserves that much at least instead of what actually happened to him.
Do you mind sharing who you’re talking about?
I WOULD say I'd spend it with my arms wrapped around my fiance and doing lots of the things together that we'd always planned to do but, as she's not dead and I HOPE THAT DOESN'T happen for an EXTREMELY long time!!! So, I'd probably go with mom to see if she could help change the verdict of the court a few years ago that cost me MY house, the one mom left to ME!!
Get a good pizza, go home and eat with my mom and brother, make her some popcorn later and watch a movie. That’s what she liked to do
Sounds good 🙂
What was her favorite movie genre?
This is truly something I can honestly say I believe. 100% real
Probably romance movies like Somewhere In Time, (not my favorite type of movies) haha
My grandmother. She passed a year ago. I miss her. We used to do simple things like eat together or watch movies. I miss that. 🤷♂️
Yea I lost my granny recently and she was like a second mother to me. I miss everything about her…
I know exactly what you mean
With my grandma. Just have some cake and talk with her all day.
I'd tell them that some divine force is allowing them to stay on Earth for one more day, and that we have to move quickly to find out who/what is controlling this and defeat them so she can get her life back.
I'd start by saying I'm sorry I treated them like a piece of shit.
My first girlfriend was murdered, raped and thrown in the dirty river while police had me locked up for vagrancy. She was 16. We were homeless teens.
Im not sure what wed do together. Its been well over 20 years.
Talking and just being with them
Yea sometimes it’s the simplest things we miss the most..

Going for a walk and catching up.
Getting them away from the thing that killed them.
