So I'm going into my Senior year of High School. I really like two sophomore girls. Over the last year, both showed some signs they like me. I haven't really seen either of them over the summer, but I'd like to continue talking and flirting when school starts again. To make this easier, I'll just list when happened under Girl A and Girl B.

GIRL A
I asked her out. She said she has a boyfriend. (First time we talked) - not a smart move by me -
she was talking to some other guys but no official boyfriend

After I asked her, she stared at me every day
Quickly meet my eyes in the halls or hold for 1-3 seconds
Play with her hair while she looked
This would literally happen 3-5 times a day
always faced my direction
walked near / with me in the hallways

After being rejected, I was embarrassed and didn't talk to her outside of eye contact and stupid stuff. Over summer, I messaged her insta. I said :
Hey. Could we talk?

she didn't respond but she hasn't actually seen it yet (ik she could have just not opened the message)

GIRL B :
- She would say Hi to me every day (we had one class together, but also saw each other in free sometimes)
- She would always initiate conversations with me
- She insisted on taking pictures with me
- She stole my phone and took stupid pictures with a friend (also a girl)
- I would see her looking at me in the hallways every few days
- She said she would have went to junior prom with me (I went with a girl my friend set me up with, but we didn't really connect well)
- She (jokingly) said we are practically dating
- She followed all my social media
- She complimented me on my shirt, said (blank) is really my color, etc.
- She smiled a lot and laughed at dumb jokes I made

I realize the difference in these two are different. One girl sought me out to talk and the other stared a lot. The thing is, I have feelings for both of them, so any insight as to what each girl is thinking as well as what I should do is much appreciated.

Thank you for reading and hopefully helping me. I am very bad at the dating game and therefore I never date. But I am determined to change my life around.

I'll sketch a made up situation in a nightclub and I describe what happens between brackets and bellow that what she's thinking. She is 25 yr old but she doesn't fully realize she's good looking.

Are her responses correct. Or where I went wrong?

(An attractive but not super attractive guy spots her)

Nice guy, I hope he will approach me.

(Guy walks up to her)

OMG, he is coming over. Why? What does he want? There are tons of other cute girls here. And if I say something wrong he could reject me.

(Guy introduces himself)

Why would he want to talk to me? Or is he just out to have sex with me. At first glance I would say it is a guy I might someday sleep with but I don’t him to know that. When I say something he might find out how much I am interested in him. I don’t want him to think I am easy. He might tell his friends about me. Let me act uninterested. And also test him what is he made off.

(Guy keeps trying to talk to her)

I am giving him no sign of of interest but he is not faced at all by this. He must be very confident in himself. Let me show some more interest. He might be a keeper.

(the girls tries to test him with some questions. She asks him if he often hits on girls. The guy responds jokingly with ‘Of course not. This is the first time I am in this nightclub’)

Funny answer. I like him and he is not a pushover. He seems cool and he makes me laugh. I want to know more about him.

(After a nice conversation the guy ask for a phone number)

He seems to be interested in me and not just to get any girl. I want him to call me. But let me say that I am not sure giving him my phone number. Because I want him to keep trying to see how much he wants me.

(They talk a bit more and then guy asks again for the number)

This time I will give him the number. If he had not asked I would have seen him as weak.
