So my girlfriend and I have been together for 9 months. Through those 8 months she has met all my immediate family. I have met her sisters and brother, but she didn't let them know we were dating. I also haven't met her mother, and her mom has no idea that I exist. She hides the gifts I got her from her mom (apple watch, necklace for example) and its hard for me. Im used to meeting family within about 6 months, but at least having the family know of me. Before our one year anniversary, I wanted to tell her that I either want to be introduced to her mom or I don't know if I want to stay. I would give her a month to plan it out, and go from there. Is that too harsh?

Sidenote: she is Muslim and I know that can make things tricky in terms of dating as I'm not Muslim.

OK so here is the scenario. You're the brother. You have a girlfriend that has been with you for 9 years. And a sister that your girlfriend has known since birth. One night your parents get in to a car accident that leaves them both dead, and your sister without a home. You're the elder brother, so the state has come to you, and asked you to adopt the sister. The only other option is for her to be in foster care permanently.

You discuss at length with the girlfriend and you both agree to adopt the sister, she should be with family. When the sister moves in you find out she's very traumatized from the event, she has trouble being alone, can't go to sleep unless someone is there with her. You have to take her to and from counseling every week.

One day the girlfriend comes to you saying this is not what she signed up for, she's not ready to be a mother. She wants you to cancel the adoption. She issues the ultimatum "which do you choose, me or your sister" of course you talk it over, you don't abandon family. The girlfriend agrees and things are OK for a week. You then find out from the sister that the girlfriend has been mean to her off and on. You confront the girlfriend, she apologizes, and things are better for a week. But she starts again, and then you have a massive fight where she gives the ultimatum again.. Of course you tell her to pack her shit and get out, because you don't abandon family.

After that the mental health of the sister gets better though she wrongly feels like it was her fault the girlfriend and you broke up.. Ultimately family is first.

Ladies would you force him to choose between you and his sister?

My current relationship is probably coming to an inglorious end because of my girlfriend's abuse of alcohol. We have dated since February, 2018 and lived together since July, 2018. She has never hid her use of alcohol and I am not opposed to anyone drinking responsibly. I occasionally enjoy a mixed drink myself. Early in the relationship, I minimized the significance of some warning signs and now I regret having done so. Over the past 6 months, her use of alcohol has increased significantly and I have tried to discuss this with her but she maintains a resolute denial that alcohol presents any problems for her, or us.

Over the past two years, she has been terminated from two jobs. I don't know if alcohol was a factor in those dismissals. She has procrastinated tremendously on matters that have some importance and significance. Most importantly, she developed alcoholic gastritis which led to malnutrition which led to 12 days in the hospital and complications from which she is still recovering.

I have begged her to control her drinking. I have offered to stop drinking if she does. I have suggested counselling. Nothing has worked. I finally gave her an ultimatum; I was virtually certainly that would end the relationship but it was the only remaining option. Now we are discussing the terms of her moving out and moving on with our lives.

Have you ever been in a relationship and discovered that your partner was an alcoholic? Did you experience the frustration and anger that comes with living with an alcoholic? Did it end horribly or do you have a happier story about your experience?

My girlfriend has had a bad attitude problem and will flip out on me and find reasons to be mad. I always end up saying sorry and if i ever speak up about how i feel repressed she starts crying and im forced to say sorry and comfort her for our relationship to move forward. Its come to a point where sometimes i dont even want to talk to her anymore about my day or rant about shit going on because im most likely gonna get interrupted and shut up. Honestly i just hate feeling like i have to say sorry foe being in a relationship or feel like im repressed in my relationship. I've talked to her about this 6+ times and yet its still reoccurring. I've even given her an ultimatum saying if she cannot at least think and consider what she says or does before doing it that i would have to leave. I cannot live like this.

What the fuck do i do?

Since my 20-year old soulmate revealed that she has started to want humans (and they are humans, not just a 'child'), we have been breaking up due to her demand that she can only be with me if I want to have humans with her in the future. We are very much in love, and our relationship was strong and committed prior to this.

I told my father of this development. He said that all women are subconsciously programmed by evilution to want humans. But men do not have that programming. Which, as a reader of evilutionary psychology and biology books and studies, I agree with.

He told me, for the first time, that the only reason I was born is because my mother wanted a human, and he didn't. She forced him to either have a human with her at some point, or to end the relationship. Because he loved my mother, and didn't want to lose her - a feeling which I think everyone can understand - he had me. This is why I am here today.

With the example of both my parents and my girlfriend, I am experiencing this manipulation as both a son, and as a partner.

What I am certain of, is that a father is very unlikely to tell his children that he did not want them. Therefor, logically, it is entirely possible that this reality is extremely prevelant among the human population. It may even be a majority - even the vast majority - of us who are here for this very reason. Because the mother gave an ultimatum, and the father, scared to lose her, bowed down to her demands.

The thing with a poll of this nature, is that many will either not be aware enough, or strong enough, to accept their suspicions - so I am not expecting this poll to mean much, unless we find that there are many who do, secretly, realise this. Which, on a societal level, would be a wonderfully positive step in the struggle for mutual cross-gender understanding and enlightenment.
