My wife came up to me and told me about this trip she wanted to take with her brother, asking if it would be okay if she could go. Well, I'll never tell her she can't do anything (except cheat) and said "sure".

What I'm trying to process is she told me she didn't think I would care if she went on a trip with her brother. Well, I'm okay with her taking a trip, but going to a third world country in South America is a little different than going to Disney World... At least in my opinion it is.

Another issue I'm struggling with is we never took a honeymoon and now she's planned a very exotic trip to a foreign country with her brother and not her husband. I don't want to be Mr. Controlling, so I haven't really said much about it, although when the trip is brought up, I feel a bit sad inside. I believe the fact she didn't even consider how I'd feel is what's making me a bit bummed, because if I were ever presented with an opportunity to go anywhere I wouldn't even think of doing so without my wife or at least making sure she was invited. But, I guess we're all different.

She did throw me a bone and said I could come "BUT" she was afraid if that happened, her brother would feel like a third wheel. First of all, I did not ask if I could come along, but she ended up lobbing a half-hearted invite out of duty because I was a bit confused about it (I didn't get mad or mope, but she could tell it bothered me). Secondly, there's no way I want to make somebody resentful by stuffing myself into something where I was not part of the original plan and I feel like I'm being offered out of duty.

I don't feel the need to be involved in every detail of her life. She went and visited her brother last year for the weekend, and that sucked as I missed her, but she is entitled to visit friends and family and have a good time. I am married, happily; however, for about 6 months before my wedding my fiancé was living at home while I was going to college 4 hours away. During that period I started to realize that most of my friends were no longer at school with me because they had graduated, transferred, dropped out, etc. There was one very close friend of mine who was still in school with me, and shortly after being dumped by the guy she thought she was going to marry, she began realizing the same thing. Consequently we began spending a lot of time together. I already loved her in a friendly, non-romantic sense before any of this happened, but with neither of us having a significant other (at least not close by) and fewer friends surrounding us, it began to feel more like a traditional "couple" relationship. I started noticing how good her hair looked, how I enjoyed the smell of her when she was near me, and how good it felt when I made her laugh. My love for her changed but I have never, and will never, act on it as long as I am married. I never told either woman that I love this girl, but I did let my wife know that if we hadn't gotten married for some reason I would have pursued the other girl. Does my emotional attachment to this other woman count as cheating on my wife or is it just my imagination wondering what could have been?

I have a dilemma. I'm wondering what everyone's thoughts are on access to your significant other's phone. In my girlfriend's relationship before ours, she cheated on her boyfriend multiple times with multiple people. She said she had changed her ways but a little over a year ago, my girlfriend was going to cheat on me. I found out by looking at her text messages, which I had never done previously. This was a huge ordeal for us, but we moved past it. Since then I've developed a habit of occasionally looking through her phone. It's hard not to considering what happened. She feels violated and that I don't trust her when I do this behind her back. I've forgiven her for what happened. She felt terrible and I believe her when she says she won't do it again. However, I feel that because of what happened we should have an open phone policy. I have nothing to hide in my texts or phone calls between people. If she ever feels doubt, she's more than welcome to look through my phone. But she feels because I've done this multiple times without her permission, I've lost all privilege to her phone. She has had many guys interested in her and she wants to be friends with them. I contend that all of them want something more than just friendship. She just wants friends besides me, but can't see how messed up it is that the friends she happens to choose are into her. She texts them and they hit on her occasionally, but she does nothing about it and thinks I'm overbearing and controlling because I don't want her hanging out with them one on one and feel the need to see what they say / what she says through text. Most recently, she changed the name of a male coworker who's into her to another female name, so it wouldn't look as though she's texting this guy, after we agreed she wouldn't hang out with him... I'm starting to wonder if this is a red flag. Please help me, we're at a stalemate and can't seem to ever move past this. I love her more than life, despite what we're going through.
