Search Results: how to act on a first date

I'm a girl in 7th grade wondering how to ask out a guy. We dated before in 6th grade for about 3 to 4 months, we broke up because I was being too extra I guess that's how you describe it. But it was because of my fault. I feel like I changed or at least forced myself to change, people have said that I've changed. But I asked the guy out first, then he was the one that ended it. Later on last week I found out that he didn't feel that good "dating" me. So I was also wondering why he acted all sweet around me, was it all an act? If he didn't want to date me then why didn't he say no? Anyways I feel like I'm falling for him again, I was wondering whether I should ask him out again or not what do you think? Be honest, I don't care if the responses are mean and rude, but hey at least they're honest. I was thinking about asking him out on my birthday which is feb 13. Or on Valentine's day, or just plain not ask him out.

Long story short - he (lets say tom) and I admitted our feelings for each other but never dated as he was in a relationship. he came out of it 2-3 months ago. he showed interest in me and tried to find out if he still had a chance with me. I kept my distance because i didn't know he is single.

now, he tries to find out if i've started seeing a guy and feels insecure if i talk to our common male work friends. he was subtly flirting with me for 2 days and then on day 3, when i went to talk to him a few times, he talked nicely at first but then suddenly started avoiding me. It felt disrespectful so from next day, i started ignoring him completely. I talk to our common work friends but dont even look at him at group lunches with work friends. also there's a new male colleague so i talk to him in front of Tom.
now Tom tries to talk to me, was literally chasing me around lunch table to sit with me and treats me nicely (serving me tea at lunch table). why is he doing this?
