When I hear about people my age or younger in relationships or dating, it really bothers me. I am 23 and NEVER had an actual girlfriend.

Young romances, especially those from college or younger are sweet because you get to spend part of your youth with that person.

I get especially jealous when I hear anything about my younger sister dating because one, I guess I am a protective brother and two, she gets to have experiences I don't ever get to have.

Right now she does not have a boyfriend, to my understanding, but she did date guys in college a little.

I regret not having those young dating experiences.

positive signs
- we went for dinner and a play and despite being a low maintenance girl, she wore a really nice cardigan (never seen her dress so smart) and she ate a pizza with cutlery.
- she hides embarrassing photos of her from me.
- she’s always happy when she sees me. Sometimes she’ll tell me where she is and I’ll go. Or sometimes I’ll tell her where I am or am going and she’ll always come.
- We see each other several times a week (always alone despite having mutual friends)
- Despite being close, I know nothing of her dating history.
- She generally avoids referring to me as a friend even when it’s obvious to do so except once.
- when we are in a group, we tend to avoid each other but sometimes she’ll look at me from a distance or linger around me. If we don’t speak at all, she jokingly texts me about it.
- we text day and night.
- She knows I work near where she lives but she sends me a text saying she saw me going in in the morning.
- She seems to notice everything about me.
- Her best girl friends always look towards me when she looks at me.
- Her other guy friend who likes her is jealous.
- this has been going on for a few months.
- she suggests most of our hang out activities and she initiated most texts.
- sometimes she’ll tease me in a trying to insult me as a joke sort of way.
- She wants to go on holiday with me alone.
Negative signs
- First time I asked her for drinks alone she mentioned someone else suggesting we go somewhere (she never actually rejected me) but I stupidly friend zoned her because I was afraid and she started acting weird and distant around me. Then she went back to normal later.
- She seemed happy when I properly friend zoned her.
- sometimes if I get too close to her face suddenly she’ll lean away.
- She doesn’t mind me touching her hands arms or shoulders.
