It's true, this week's theme is "antisocial queries that will piss you off."

Mea culpa, mofos.

In the group of divorced dads that I've encountered, there seems to be a common theme. I won't say if I agree or not. As a matter of fact, if you know me a little from being my friend, you'll wonder why the angry questions...

Here's the back-story:

The common impression many men have of their divorces is: when you're down and out, sometimes the first person to kick you is the one right beside you.

Say you're depressed, or have a bad week and get fired and your car totaled in an accident. Why is it that at moments when you're having a very hard time of it, your wife/husband chooses to bail on you? It's usually after a long period of tough going, that's a given, but why doesn't love seem to have much perseverance any more?

Are we suffering from the 'planned obsolescence' paradigm? When something or someone doesn't work, why do we have the urge to throw it/them out, and buy/date a new one?

Then after he/she's thrown you under the bus and left, your coworkers, friends, and acquaintances dogpile on you. As if people smell failure and desperation, and want to punish it.

Without going into cognitive dissonance, in regards to owning up about to our own fallibility, do you feel like this is true? Do we always hurt (and get hurt by) the ones we love?

Think about all the talk you've ever heard about someone (guy or gal) who got dumped for whatever fault of theirs. Did that person then become a pillar of the community? Or were they put down?
