So I met this girl a couple weeks ago through some mutual friends, who apparently have been trying to set us up all along.

After hanging out in a group a few times, I asked for her number to which she gave it to me without any hesitation (so far so good). We began texting a little bit and things seemed fine. My two friends also did some detective work for me and told me she in fact thought I was cute and pretty cool and would be interested in getting to know me more (even better, but strangely those were my words about her).

A few days later we're hanging out again with the same people trying to set us up. She still seems very receptive and friendly to me. Not overally flirtatious, but friendly (then again we barely know each other). After leaving their apartment, I sent her a text apologizing for forgetting to say bye to her (I sort of gave her the cold shoulder by accident). The convo (paraphrased) looked like this:

Me: my bad about giving you the cold shoulder and not saying bye, gotta a little distracted on my way out I guess.

Her: Its ok! I'm sure I'll be seeing you in a few days :)

Me: Speaking of which do you have any plans on sat?

Her: I think I have a party that night, a kicking off of the semester one, why?

Me: Just seeing if you wanted to grab a bite and hang out.

Her: ahh too bad! oh, and ... says hi!

*Subject changed and we talked for about another 30min about random stuff before I told her I had to go to bed.

Me: well if you change your mind about dinner the offer is still on the table.

Her: will do.

So, I know only time will truly tell but do you think I got rejected or that she legitimately had an excuse to be busy. I guess I'm a little skeptical because apparently this girl has had a history of befriending guys with little intention to actually date them. So I'm wondering if I'm the next victim.

Any thoughts? Also do you feel I should make another date offer a little into the future or just wait for her to make a move now since I've made my intentions clear and I've essentially put the ball in her court?

And how f***ed up is my life?

I'll try and sum myself up quickly then tell you my problem. I'm 17, currently at college (live in the UK so no confusion). I've had one girlfriend before but I was only like 13/14 so it wasn't really a proper relationship as in 'love', but we did do few sexual things but not sex. Stopped going out after a year. I'm a geeky guy, I'm into computer games and I like watching TV shows loke Doctor Who and things like that. I have moderate intelligence (got 2A's 2B's at end of last year, A in full a level I did a year early in maths and rest are phys, bio and chem at AS) but I don't think I'm actually that smart. I'm pretty shy but I have forced myself into situations where I'm not comfortable so I will be okay for uni and have been getting better on that front. I feel very stressed about applying to uni and college work which is why I'm often up till like 1am. I'm the kind of guy that doesn't admit to anything for feat of being considered and outcast due to the small number of friends I have.

I like this girl. She's into video games and action movies like James Bond and she likes to watch F1 and football. We used to be really good friends then for like a yer we barely spoke but since set ember we have gotten closer again. I'm in year 13 and I had asked her out in year 7, first of high school, but it was a no. Then like a year later had girlfriend as explained above, after had more sexual urges and started sexting basically a girl that I knew liked me and then stopped when she outright said she liked me, so we stopped talking. Year 10/11 me and this girl I like and asked out before we're getting closer and we went to prom together but since school had ended we didn't speak barely, then at prom she was with her friends and she didn't want us to sit near each other because it would be awkward for me since I didn't really know her friends then. After prom where we didn't really see each other or speak other than before and on the way there've basically pretty much stopped talking for year 12 just because I felt like I was annoying her (she never replied to texts I sent or ever sent one first). Year 12, start college and met some new girls, spoke to them and basically started sexting her since she like me too, even though I like this girl. Things go wrong because of this and we stop sexting. Start stop of the sexting happens often and I feel bad for it. I trust her and have told her personal stuff but I see her as just a good friend. So basically I think I have liked this girl since year 7 to year 13 now but she doesn't get text me first even about college work anymore so I don't think she likes me, should I ask her out Because I can't stop thinking about her?
