Search Results: when to discuss marriage

I read this myTake and a couple of related questions. It appears the concensus is that everyone is expects to share every detail of their lives with their partner.

If you feel the two of you should share, at what point in the relationship does the sharing need to begin? First date? Third? Upon agreement of a committed relationship? Marriage?

IMHO, it is not a sign of trust that one reveals this information; rather it is a sign of mistrust that my partner needs to see it.

I put a lot of private thoughts online (including here; my name isn't really "brain5000" and I don't really look like a cartoon pink brain, for example) and send personal messages in email that I don't think a partner needs to see. This would especially include email and messages about me; I think they should feel free to discuss me with their friends without worrying about me eavesdropping.

If my partner confronted me about something they found in my email account or phone, I would lose trust in them for violating my space, and it would hurt the relationship, probably beyond repair.

I would feel embarrassed if they left their computer or phone unlocked. If I happened to get a glance, I would turn away immediately, like if I walked in on my mom in the bathroom.

Should I give up all hope for a successful relationship?
