Search Results: getting over an ex boyfriend

So my boyfriend of a year wanted space as a way to clear his head from all his stress; he needed to focus on the marines and studies and work, and felt like we should work things out once both our lives calmed. However, he suddenly felt like he didn't want to get back together because this jerk of an ex-friend told him things to make me look clingy after the break up as a way of "teaching me a lesson" on getting your hopes up (even though I didn't talk to him for a while), so now my ex thinks I'll just drag him down and "trap" him, and check up on him and so on. He should know I'm not that kind of girl; he said he still loved me and never felt unhappy or angry with me, but it hurt to love me because he felt I didn't trust him (because I was "being clingy" even though I wasn't) and because he wants to get back together even though he's forcing himself not to.

So he's saying he "flipped a switch in his brain" to stop loving me, which I HIGHLY doubt he can do in a day. He admitted he was always happy, and this was the best relationship he's ever had and loved me so much he had gotten me an engagement ring. So for him to say he stopped loving me overnight, I find it hard to believe.

Everyone says he'll eventually come back if I give him the space he wants because he's been so stressed out with work, studies and the military; he, himself said "give me space and I'll come around". And his recruiter and many friends in the military said in bootcamp he'll miss me and want me back, and even moreso if he sees I've dealt with the only thing he didn't like about me (insecurity) and show him I'm still the same girl he fell in love with over two years ago, before my insecurity got to me (which had gotten to me this past month, but has been helped because of therapy). Does this seem true?

The day before we broke up, he told me he wanted us to be more mature and grown up because we wanted to move out to raise our family, and we couldn't act like high school kids anymore. We both agreed, and he told me what he loved about me: my cooking skills, my understanding of his want for "guy time", my gaming obsession (I own tons of games for Xbox, PS1-3, PSP, DreamCast, Atari, GameGear, Gameboy, GameBoy Color, and GameBoy Advance), and my "50's Wife-like charm".

I feel like he actually will miss me in the future and want to come back, but what else can I do to make him want to come back?
