Pink, however, rejects Ash's Butterfree's proposal. Ash's Butterfree keeps on trying, but Pink one eventually slaps him across the face with her wing. Being shot down, Ash's teary-eyed Butterfree then flies away into a forest.
Eventually Ash and company find it there. Totally surprised, they discuss how they could help. In order to make Butterfree look better, Brock puts a scarf around his neck.
They return to the air with Butterfree. After failing to impress Pink, Team Rocket arrives in a helicopter and then go after the Butterfree using a net to gather them. Soon all the Butterfree are captured, save Ash's Butterfree. Butterfree then tries to break into the helicopter with Tackle but fails, then Stun Spore, but it fails as well. Team Rocket leaves and Ash's Butterfree rushes after them.
Team Rocket tries to resist, but Ash's Butterfree dashes through them. It begins to Tackle the net holding the other Butterfree. After repeated attempts, Butterfree finally succeeds. Ash's Butterfree, exhausted from breaking the net, is still inside, Pink approaches, impressed by his determination. James tries to catch her, but Ash's Butterfree knocks him away, making Pink blush.
Team Rocket attempts to steal the Butterfree again. As Pink watches, Ash's Butterfree repels them again. Having witnessed Butterfree's determination , the Pink shows her new love by making her own proposal dance. Naturally, Ash's Butterfree joins the dance
