Most of us have a well-defined idea of what constitutes our perfect match. I would describe my perfect match as age 55-65, very intelligent, educated (at least a four year college degree,) well mannered and has enough sophistication to attend a symphony concert, petite, cute face, well proportioned (no huge boobs or big behind!,) Christian, tends towards conservative beliefs, no drug use or alcohol abuse. The age range has increased over the years but the other qualities have been very consistent.

How often have I dated someone who matches all of those criteria? Of all the sexual partners I have had in 45 years, only one matched all of those criteria. Some of the others were close but most did not meet at least two or three criteria. Some were not very intelligent or well educated, some were not petite, did not have a cute face, some were not Christian, and a few were alcoholic or drug abusers (in the remote past.)

I consider a few of them to be mistakes, but not because they did not meet those criteria. The non-Christian liberal with a not very cute face was a mistake but not because of those qualities. The pudgy girl with the AA degree and big boobs didn't work, but we didn't break up because she was pudgy, lacked a four year degree, and we certainly didn't break up because of her boobs.

Experience has taught me that having a list of desirable qualities is understandable but we should always be open to dating someone who is not "our type." Have you ever been attracted to someone who is not your type? Did you date them? How did it work out?

I’ve been listening to a lot of podcasts about the topic of choosing who to date, marry & have kids with. And it’s fascinating cause supposedly it’s more to what the world perceives as the “perfect man” or “perfect woman” some of it has to do with your genetics. For example, in most cases females choose to be with men that share qualities that their father’s have. And they were saying that this is because of the fact that they share the genetic makeup of their mothers as well so what their mother found attractive in their father they seek those same things in men...

Aside from that though, they didn’t say that was 100% legitimate but studies have suggested it.

Also that people choose their partners based on certain qualities they lack. Being physical or personality traits.

For example is why most but not all women would rather marry and have children with a tall, strong man vs the opposite of that. Especially if they are short and tiny.

It’s all about the chance of the child surviving and thriving after procreation. But what’s insane is that in a now modern and civilized world we never think of this. But it’s a natural way of thinking that has been embedded into our dna for centuries

You meet the man of your dreams! Finally! He meets or exceeds everything you have ever wanted in a man, except... he's recently married. He tells you that getting married was a mistake, he is thinking of divorce, and he is really into you, and he wants to date you as long as you are discreet.

You also have several single men who are interested in you. They are quality guys, but not to the degree the man of your dreams is, and you would need to compromise on some of your requirements in a man.

So be the Mistress to the Married Man of Your Dreams, or compromise some standards and be the Girlfriend to a Single Guy? Why?

I have noticed this quite a bit recently. Attractive, fun, intelligent, women, who have quality single men lining up to date them would rather knowingly be with a man who is married or is cheating on his live in girlfriend.

Do they actually think they will leave their wives?

Because they never do! FYI these guys are laughing at the mistresses who think they will leave their wives/girlfriends!

Why not date quality single guys?
