Search Results: settling for someone

Not that there's anything wrong with not having commitment (in case the way I worded my question sounded like I was putting it down). But it's not for me. And I sometimes find myself wondering how many people are at a point in their lives when they want something more serious versus maybe just having fun, still going on dates but not settling down with one person.

I've actually always just wanted a relationship, and I'd rather be single than go out with girls without it meaning much. For many people out there, it's the opposite, but I'm wondering how many people that is.

I think it's also an important question for people asking others out. For example, at the moment I don't really ask girls out (I have my own reasons, haha) but I plan to start in a year or so when I go to college. So, say I ask a girl out. If I'm looking to actually have a relationship with someone, and I'm dating the girl to see if I'd like to have a relationship with her, if in the meantime she doesn't think much of the date and is only dating me to have a bit of fun without wanting anything serious to happen, it could be somewhat of a waste of my time. And based on the results from this question, I could get a better idea of how many girls might be like the girl in my example or how many girls would be open to something more serious.

Anyway, answer up! (I included age categories in the poll because I think age probably does play a big part in someone's openness to commitment in their love life.)

My cousin divorced her husband of almost 30 years and they had 3 kids, she settled for him on the rebound from an alpha type guy, her ex husband is the beta type.

I found out she was cheating on him throughout the marriage, I think her settling for someone she can't appreciate and also deciding to break the family are both irrational. She chose to marry him, she wore the pants, so I wonder if she was always looking for a way out or if she spontaneously got feelings for some one and a divorce all of a sudden felt right.

I am just trying to find out these type of womens thoughts throughout everything.
