My ex and I were together for 9 months. There was an instant connection and in a month or less he asked me to be his girlfriend. Our relationship was great, we traveled, laughed all the time, met each other's friends and family- he became my best friend. Then towards our final two months together I started feeling like I didn't deserve him- like he was too good to be true. I started doing whatever to accommodate him. That was followed by feeling to unattractive to be with him. One day I even asked him to break up with me while we were on a romantic vacation.

The week before last I told him I wouldn't be coming over anymore. He was extremely confused. I was feeling very emotional and down. I said that only because I wanted more attention from him. We took a little space over the weekend. Then on Monday morning he told me how unhappy I seemed to be and that he thought it was because he wasn't giving me what I needed. He asked for some time to think. A few days later he broke up with me in tears.

I tried explaining how I feel was me not him and I apologized for communicating my feelings in such a reckless, hurtful way. I assures him I was happy with him. When I met to pick up my things I told him I had made an appointment to see a therapist and he was happy to hear I was getting help but he still said he couldn't deal with everything but would like to be friends.

I want him back. Is there a chance or have I burned that bridge?

Backstory: A few months ago two black teenagers were walking down the street in the daytime, apparently jaywalking when approached by a cop, Darren Wilson. -something happened- and one of these teens, Mike Brown was shot at by the officer 12 times (6 hits). He died. His body was left in the street for 4.5 hours before being taken away in a van. The officer who shot him was sent off on administrative leave and filed an incident report 10 days later. Darren Wilson describes Mike Brown in words like “demon”, “Hulk”, and “it”. He says he feared for his safety after Mike Brown punched him repeatedly in the face and because of his size. Both males are the same height but Mike Brown weighted about 80lbs more. He said he stopped the guys because Brown matched a description but the two teens began cursing and Mike Brown lunged at him, even after being shot. Allegedly Brown struggled with the gun while being shot and fled while Wilson chased him, and then Brown began to run towards Wilson instead. This week Wilson was indicted. Since the shooting there has been protest from the Ferguson, Mo community that spread throughout North America and Asia. Varying from die-ins (people lying face down on the ground resembling murder victims), marches, lectures, looting, and vandalism. Many protestors spoke out and physically blocked looters from deflecting from the cause.

I know people will say this isn't about race, because we don't consider how safe our white families are from injustice. I know tons of people who smoke weed (and more), drive reckless, mouth off to authorities, they will not be killed for it. If somehow they are , those responsible will be punished. My friends and family will receive benefit of the doubt. People will not ask what he did wrong, what he was wearing & they won't blame my family or white culture. They won't even call him a thug, a jerk maybe.
