In my personal view the death penalty should definitely apply to child molesters and child abusers.

As well as violent felons who have repeatedly committed violent crimes.

And definitely terrorists as well.

Aside from that while I was talking to my Dad about this I asked him about why the states that still have the death penalty so rarely make use of it.

He said that he expects the recent movement away from the death penalty is due to the impracticality and inefficiency of the system.

Apparently it is more expensive to sentence someone to death than it is to imprison them for life. And that is because apparently millions of dollars are spent fighting in the court system for years and years.

But what are your thoughts on this? Why do states so rarely carry out the death penalty?

Should it be kept or abolished for reasons of impracticality? Or is it just downright immoral in your view?
