This girl I met a over a year ago who I developed a HUGE crush on told me that she views me as a friend and nothing more. She has mentioned this as recently as December, when she said that she's "sorry if she led me on in any way", which was ridiculous because she is an awesome person and shouldn't feel bad for being her awesome self, but I am happy to have her in my life in any way. After the 10 day trip where I met her and saw her every day, I only have talked to her in person once when I ran into her in November, but we have messaged each other a few times in addition. Anyways, one night I was feeling really depressed, and I decided to chat with her because of how I'm always so happy after every interaction with her, and I straight up told her this recently. She responded with some nice advice etc. She's a very chill and sweet girl but I would like to know what she was thinking during that interaction. I'm opening this up to both girls and guys because both might understand or have experience. Ladies, please don't be afraid to tell a guy if he is wrong.

So my 30th birthday is coming up and I feel a bit down about it. One thing that gets me down is I'm going to be 30 and still a virgin. Not just that but I also never actually had a girlfriend. Actually I never even kissed a girl. This makes me feel like some weirdo or a loser.

I mean I have gone on a few dates before but not many, less then 10. I have had a handful of women ask me out on dates but for the most part I would just turn them down since I wouldn't be interested in them.

I only asked out a few women myself, less then have asked out me. But the thing for me is I find I have to get to know a girl and become her friend before I start to find myself interested in dating her. So by this point they usually just see me as a friend or they have lost interest in me or they were never interested in me to begin with. That and I am just horrible at picking up on when someone is flirting with me or is interested in me, I just assume they are being friendly.

I like to think that I'm a normal, nice guy. But just had bad luck. That and I'm a bit of an introvert so I have trouble meeting and opening up to new people. I wouldn't consider myself unattractive and I have had many women tell me they find me attractive so I don't see it as that. Whenever anyone mentions my past relationships or sexual partners I just lie since I find it so embarrassing.

I'm curious what women think of a guy like me. Do they see me as weird and a loser? Would they actually have an interest in dating a guy like me or no? What are just their general thoughts on a guy like me? Any advice you have for me to help me change this situation I'm in? Give me your honest opinion.
