I have been e-mailing and talking on the phone with a guy I met online. We live 4 hours apart. He was supposed to visit me earlier this month, but e-mailed me the morning of the visit to say he was sick and couldn't make it. I didn't respond. A week later he sent me a long 4 paragraph e-mail saying, among other things, that he feels a connection with me and wants another chance to visit. I then caved. He is supposed to visit either 2 or 4 weeks from now, depending on when he can get off work. He says he will let me know ASAP. HOW LONG SHOULD I WAIT TO FIND OUT AND HOW SHOULD I RESPOND TO THIS "I'LL LET YOU KNOW ASAP AND HOPE YOU'LL SAVE YOUR DATES FOR ME?"

I met a guy online, immediately went to e-mails, calls, and plans for date. He lives about 4 hours from me and he was going to visit my city for a long weekend. He had to get a few days off from work, so the visit was scheduled a few weeks out. We talked and e-mailed every week in between, but at about 5am on the morning of the visit, he sent me a one paragraph cancellation e-mail saying he was sick, but that he'd like the visit the next weekend if I'd still see him. I never responded because I assumed he just wasn't that interested. Now, a week later, I received a four paragraph e-mail giving more a more detailed, yet consistent explanation of what happened, suggesting that we schedule another time for him to visit me, discussing additional meetings and stating "I do miss you…must be difficult to imagine since we haven't even met but I feel a connection between us that I hope you feel as well." I do like him, but don't want to create a situation of him pulling out on me at the last minute any time he wants. What should I do? I want to respond, but what should I say? If my answer is to be yes, what do I say to make sure it starts and stays on the right track? How can I seem laid back about it, but make sure he doesn't think he can establish a pattern of last minute cancellations?
