I have (or had) a good friend who I met at work. I will call him "Skylar" for the purpose of this post. He used to partake in ride alongs at the county EMS department with my other friend.

He was 18 at the time. I think I was 20. Skylar grew up in an abusive home and my other friend, who I will call "John", who was in his upper 30's, took him in and became almost a father figure to him. They lived together in a trailer.

Skylar used to be an energetic, fun-loving, wild but kind kid. He had a passion to become a firefigher, and he used to be fun to hang around with. We used to go fishing, have bon-fires, and get drunk. We had a very youthful, "young-wild-and-free-" type friendship.

But then it happened. He pursued this girl and they ended up falling in love. He had some let-downs too at that time, and he started to become closed up and explosively violent towards John, the guy who took him in when he was neglected by his father. He started hanging out with me less and became controlled by his extremely jealous, manipulative, and self-conscoius girlfriend. He tries to act tough and put on an act for his girlfriend, but he is causing tension with his friends.
