Sending mixed signals is leading someone on. When you make them feel interested even though you aren't ready for a relationship. Or you could make it all that worse with you already being in a relationship.

Leading someone on is texting that person after you have a fight with your current bf/gf. You're giving them hope that there's a chance you'll break off with your significant other and be with them instead. Giving them the hope that they have a better chance with you because you run to them when you get upset.

Leading someone on is getting jealous when they mention another guy or girl to you. Making them feel like their in the wrong and there is the feeling of them belonging to you. You might as well be interested in them if you feel jealous.

Leading someone on is sending them hearts and love emojis or winks in messages or commenting on their photos. Over complimenting them shows that you're interested.

Leading someone on is texting them until you finally answer. It’s asking them to hang out every time you’re bored. It’s watching movies inside of your bedroom instead of hanging out in groups of friends

Leading someone on is taking them out and paying for the meal. Holding their hand. Cuddling with them in bed. Doing things that boyfriends and girlfriends are supposed to do.

Leading someone on is crossing the line from friendship into something more. It’s telling them how much you like them. It’s kissing them on the hand, on the neck, on the lips. It’s letting clothing come off. It’s making them think that your feelings are just as strong as their feelings.

Leading someone on is slowly breaking their heart. And if you care about them at all, you’ll either choose them or you’ll choose to leave them the hell alone!

Look, while I agree with somethings. However this should not be a general rule. Everybodies personal relationship is not the same and it should be used with caution.

This quote right here sounds like it comes from somebody who is extremely bitter and had been rejected and hurt so many times. Let go, and learn. The same way your asking them to tell you out right be honest about how you desire to be treated. Everybody expresses love differently. Then when that person refuses to show affection and acts resevered its also a complaint. Handle your relationships maturely as adults. Most of the things you say is not only resevered for in dating or marriage. Some people have this as friends. And it doesn't mean they are sexually attracted to each other.

The problem with most people they assume there are mixed messages when there aren't. If you are interested in dating them, that has to be your responsibility to let that person know instead of assuming they feel the same way. Some rather be friends first and let romance happen naturally. Thi is my issue with people of both ends.

If you have to go this far, it just means that you either get your priorities straight or both of you are crazy to let it go this far. A kiss on the hand is fine. But depending on your culture, be extremely careful with the lips. Again, agree, but some of them disagree. And must be used with extreme caution.

Leading someone on is morally wrong because you are taking away their freedom to make objective choices about their future. It is also a strategy that will end up biting you in the ass down the road.

I disagree with these two statements.

I think it's perfectly ok to spend time with a friend one on one, also if you live with others I think there's nothing wrong with them being in your room.

yeah it's fine to spend time with them one on one it's just more of spending time with them in your bedroom watching a movie is quite a lead on.. like you have cinemas.. why not in the living room? Yeah I wasn't stating if they were living with other people just in general

It's more of them always paying for you and like them treating you a lot, i get what you mean there tho :)

Giving someone false hope is the worst! I had this friends with benefits girl that lead me on by telling me how much she liked me, etc. And when I tried to keep it friends with benefits and not reply back to her rants she would get mad at me like we were dating... After while I decided to give a shot and give her more attention... worst thing that i couldve done, she goes and cheats on me! Dont lead someone on or date your friends with benefits

Oh yeah, that could nail me too... I easily get attached to people so if someone shows interest I'll be sold after a few days.
That is: if my feeling says it may be serious.
So I could stay behind deeply disappointed and hurt :-(

If they're feeling jealous, they have feelings for you. That's something that happens subconsciously. But of course they can't have it both ways and be with two people

I dated this girl for two months. Everything was perfect. It seemed like we were obsessed with eachother. On our two month I told her I loved her. About 6 hours later she called me and wanted to break up because the relationship was getting too "serious"...

You could ask her to tell her honestly if you have not already. If she is not truly interested anymore and is looking for a way out she would certainly use it. Yes it would suck, but trust me you don't want to get your hopes up only to be hurt even more later on. (speaking from experience).

I'm being led on too, few weeks ago we were having sex, fight happens and then she sends me "lets get back together" songs but I know she sleeps with other people while she says she loves me.
She'll text me heart emojis and send pictures of me on the beach saying she's thinking about me, send pictures of her in sexy outfits. However if I confront her she'll always say she's unsure, sometimes I can kiss her sometimes she won't let me because "its confusing" all the while flirting with me.

Point of order: Doing what people in real relationships do is not leading them on, it's having a relationship.

Leading them on is when you are more interested in the attention you're getting - and giving mixed signals to keep that going - than the person who is interested in you. And having no intention whatsoever of allowing the relationship to grow or progress.

Almost all of those relate to myself and my best guy friend. It took 18 months to get over him. He's sill trying to lead me on, I recently told him "I used to just like anybody, now I have a much higher standard, now I focus a lot more on the person's character". His reaction was priceless.
