A couple months ago this guy I had met last summer came back into my life as a friend. We began to get romantic but it got difficult because of his busy schedule and how far apart we live. But we video chatted, face timed, etc. We never had a boring conversation, we talked about important things and goals and ambitions. He's very comforting and understanding. Im the only girl in my household besides my mother, and he's the only boy, so we both understand each other well in general. I can be myself in front of him and same with him towards me. He listens to me when I'm mad at him or just upset in general, and he finds a way to help me calm down. We're both very honest, and we value the same things in a relationship. In my past relationship I was cheated on and we were off and on, we argued a lot. This new guy and I always work through our problem which we rarely have, and he can make me laugh when I feel like killing someone. Stupid me, got back together with the ex, and now I'm not happy. After I got into a relationship with someone else I realized what love is supposed to feel like and now I know I'm just not my ex's cup of tea. So I told the good guy that I like about how I felt and he said he understood and he felt the same way. He said he isn't mad and if I'm not happy to just leave. And even if he isn't gonna be romantically involved with me, he'd still be there for me. He knows what I need and he can tell when something isn't right. I just feel like the good guy is who I'm meant to be with. Like my heart and my mind keeps telling me that this is the guy for me. There's not one thing I don't like about him. I even tried making a list when I was angry with him and I still couldn't come up with anything, but for my ex/current boyfriend I came up with 31 things. Is it true love? I've never felt so alive and happy with anyone before. He agrees that the relationship we've developed isn't and won't be like any other that he's had...

THIS IS REALLY NONE OF MY BUSINESS BUT I'M CURIOUS SO I'M ASKING ANYWAY.

My friend has a new boyfriend. Their two month anniversary is actually today so they're quite new at dating each other.

In any case, they spend the night in his room (we're in college) every once in a while but they do not have sex, or so she says.

But here's the thing - his parents call him every morning.

Is that normal?

Like his mom calls him daily and when he told her my friend had spent the night they made him drive all the way home (2 hour drive) to talk about it in person.

He Skypes with his mom for three hours a day every day.

Is this normal for a 21 year old college junior?

See, to me, it's screaming "Momma's Boy" and I'd be high tailing it out of there so fast lol. Nothing wrong with being close to your parents but really? His mother controls his every move.

My friend complains to me all the time about how her boyfriend can't do anything (go to basketball games/go to lunch/etc.) because his mom told him he needs to study.

Is it normal for parents to have such a hold on their sons at this age?

I mean, I talk to my parents maybe once every other week and that's only to tell them when I plan on coming home next or to tell them that I need to set up an appointment when I'm back in town or something.

But maybe I'm the weird one. Is it normal to be in such constant and intimate contact with parents when you're a 21 year old male college student?
