It's like choosing who to believe on fixing and suping up your cars:

• A ) A mechanic with education in the actual topic who drives a car with stock parts

• B) A guy who read how to supe up and fix his cars by reading random blogs and watching YouTube videos on the internet, who drives with a suped up engine.

Guy A is like a person with education in Fitness or Nutrition who isn't in shape, Guy B is like the fit person who got info from google searches and YouTube.

Guy A (the mechanic) is saying one thing about your question and Guy B (the blog reader and youtube learner) is saying another.

Guy A says Guy B is telling you common myths in the field, or something that will work short term but damage your car later, or a way that works but could be a lot better, or misapplied information that isn't appropriate for you.

Guy B's argument is he successfully suped up his car this way and has been doing this for years, so he knows what he's talking about. He claims that Guy A isn't as knowledgeable as him because the mechanic only drives a Toyota with stock parts.

Who would you believe, Guy A or Guy B?

Why would fitness and nutrition be any different?

I know and learned way more about fitness and nutrition when I got educated in it, which was AFTER I stopped lifting and exercising.

Compared to what I know now, I knew nothing during the 8 years of lifting , playing sports, being in good shape, and being strong, even though most people always asked me for fitness / nutrition advice.

So even if I never worked out before and still got educated in the subjects I'd still be just as knowledgeable.
