Throughout my entire childhood my father was always the dominant figure in my household. It wasn't aggressive or violent, he just laid down the law and everyone followed it - he was in charge - no question. He would enforce said rules by spanking my sister, myself, and even my mother, more or less depending on the offense - from questioning his authority, to breaking a lamp, to doing the laundry badly (more for my mother), to getting bad grades (more for my sister and I).

As a child it never seemed odd to me, I just assumed that was just the way families were. Seeing my mother spanked by my father in front of my sister and I the same way he spanked us just didn't affect me all that much. A friend I invited over once in around 6th Grade was the one who broke it to me that most families don't do it that way.

I would like to make it quite clear my family wasn't abusive. Not only are my parents still together and love each other, but my father is a wonderful man and I hold nothing against him. It was just our family dynamic. I haven't really had a platform to ask exactly how common this was before now, so I figured this was my chance.

So did your father have the dominant role in your household as a child? To what degree? If not, which parent took charge, and how? Were you and your siblings spanked, and if so, was your less dominant parent also spanked?

I was already on the verge of breaking up with him for his lack of communication, and video game addiction.. but ultimately, because he gave me an STD.. I didn’t right away, because I was processing everything and I was out of town.. so even after never being checked.. and has sex with a girl before he got with me who’s had a history of STDs.. he breaks up with me saying “I lost interest in you after that,” after HE GAVE IT TO ME! First of all, even after I told him to go get checked.. he was like I always used condoms with past partners.. well shit, no you didn’t.. I got checked in May, and I was clean.. and always had past partners wear condoms

I asked him if went down on the last girl he hooked up with and he told me “that’s none of your business,” it is my business because you gave me this shit. I have every right to know that..

Like how fucking dumb do you have to be to have unprotected sex with someone who’s had a history of STDs, and lie about it saying “I’ve always used condoms with past partners..” That is such a slap in the face to find this out as we were breaking up like wow.. I didn’t even know about him hooking up with a girl that’s had an STD before.. until just recently.. hell she might of still had something.. I just know that I was clean before I got with him.
