My boyfriend and I have been dating for nearly a year. The only person in his family that hates me is his father; I'll never be welcome in his presence. Luckily his parents are separated and live on different apartments. I can still come to this mother's place.

About 20 years ago, his father was wronged badly by a girl. She's one of those women many guys hate. That woman happens to be my mother. Unfortunately I'm guilty of looking like her when she was young and also sharing her first name and last name. She was a single mother (my real father bailed out) and named me like her.

My boyfriend's father freaked out (it made it even worse when he knew I shared her name too) upon seeing my appearances and wishes we stop dating. He thinks I have it in my veins, that it's in my blood, that I'm just like my mother... that I'll hurt his son just like my mother used him. Does our relationship stand a chance?

Probably because I got a little distant due to us not seeing eye to eye on the nature of our relationship. Anyway, I expressed this and told him why I disappeared and was totally transparent about why I acted the way I did. So he said he was sad that I cut him off, misses me, loves me and wants to be with me.

We haven't had sex and I have made it clear it isn't happening if I'm not married. I am really distrustful of men and their motives due to a lot of past trauma. I know people can't mind read but does he sound like he's just saying anything he can to win and get me in bed or is he being truly vulnerable with me?
