I'm a newly minted 20 year old who has a scalp condition where I lost a lot of hair and so I have to shave. Honestly I don't care about it, to me it's just hair but I am extremely concerned this is a bit of a death sentence for dating for a long time. So young women, could you date a completely shaved bald guy, or find him attractive? Or will this make it so most young girls won't want to be anything more than friends or straight up tell me to get lost? Be honest and picture what you'd do if a bald guy approached you. (Be brutally honest, my family is military I can take it)

Since I was 18 my hair began thinning from a scalp condition. So at 19 I took a plunge and shaved it to the skin. I've tried being confident with it but I know looks do factor in for people I'm no different-and can't blame a girl for thinking the same. And I just really think that most girls this age wouldn't give thought to dating the bald guy, not saying they'd ignore him or be rude but just that, if a girls attractive and I like her, she can easily have plenty of guys WITH hair at this age so they'd do a whole 'I'm not a fan... But someone will be!' line to me, I'm sorry if that's sounding condescending but I'm tired of hearing it. I feel like for women below thirty this will really be a turnoff. So young women would you date a bald guy? (Keep in mind it's shaved not balding) could you even be attracted to one at this age? Honesty, even if it's negative is appreciated if it's respectful. Before you post really consider if one approached you at a party or on the street and was showing interest and what you'd truly say.

I'm an 18 year old guy who has had on and off bouts of alopecia. It was under control mostly but recently after a stressful incident a group of follicles were killed off, so my only option is to shave it to the skin, not even a shadow as it looks patchy. Personally I don't mind it, I pull it off okay (kinda surprising as I'm a slender pale guy) but whenever I see an axe commercial I get self conscious. So would young women in thier late teens or early twenties be put off by a guy who approached them with a chromdome? Will I be considered less attractive than 'hairy' guys right off the bat? Or am I just overthinking it? Be honest please-I admit looks are a required first step for me to be interested in a girl and I know it works the same for them. I just feel like at this age or twenties most girls couldn't get past it or would view me as older and weird.

I hear all the time here, "I'm shy, no one ever talks to me, etc." It is extremely difficult for a man to approach a woman, in this situation we are talking about a 22 year old woman and we'll say a 45ish man. Both are within dating age, and yes he's probably a little old for her, and she handled it well.

But it would have been safer for him to not speak to her in the first place, he experienced rejection here. One of the comments was "that's why I don't speak to strange women" And there is nothing wrong with that either. But we can't have it both ways, you cannot expect only compatible people to approach you. If you are approachable people will talk to you, if you are not people, usually, won't.

I read another article in a running mag from the perspective of a young woman who had an older man ask her if she needed help with the controls of her treadmill. She rudely blew him off only to realize she actually knew him, but didn't recognize him (he was the father of her friend and was just trying to help)

I understand that age has a factor in both of these stories, but women blow off men all the time regardless of age.

So the question stands should guys speak to women they do not know?
