It might seem like a silly question. Im currently 22, and i have never drank alcohol, not a single drop has knowingly entered my mouth.

I told myself at a young age i would never drink and i would try to integrate into society as a non-drinker and try to have fun whilst sober. Im now 22, i have now reached my career goals of having a degree and being a software developer. This career goal was the main reason why i avoided drinking, as i wanted to make sure i had my life under control before i started partying and whatever.

Over time I've developed a social anxiety disorder and so i haven't really been able to integrate into a young persons society. I've been out to clubs once, i have very few friends (if any), and all the friends I've ever had have pushed me away since i never went to parties with them, I've had sex with one girl and it was basically a once in a lifetime moment that caused it to happen (long story).

Now that you know the context, is it time for me to learn to drink? If so, how should i do it? Will it actually weaken my social anxiety? (I don't know what it feels like to be drunk)

This is such a hard dilemma to solve for me, i could write an essay on it. Just give me your views please, the more detail the better.

Long story short that leads to this:

I go over to my friends to drink tonight. Towards the end we're all playing smash. I absolutely suck ass which fine I admit multiple times while playing. My friends brother gets into calling me shit constantly and I'm not backing down because regardless of him actually doing the best, he's only won 1 game. Out of the 5 games most of the time it was me saying "well you aren't winning" every time he called me bad.

This ended up with him getting in my face saying "I will woop your ass" and my response was "I'm not putting my hands on you". After this he chases me out the door (I'm not staying near him regardless) I sprain my ankle walking down the steps and he calls me an idiot for that... cool. I drank a shit ton, don't' feel safe crashing on their couch so I drove home smashed. Stupid I know... I didn't know what else to do.

I knew drinking around people I don't know would be a bad idea because I don't know these people minus the one friend. Now I'm sitting here crying my eyes out because I topped off the shitty idea of hanging out with my friend with driving home drunk. I keep reading bulshit online "Men can cry" but it doesn't make me feel better. Ignoring how I feel and playing League would make me feel better. Crying my sadness out over how bad the night turned out isn't helping me. Whoever said crying is "Okay" was wrong. I'd rather ignore it, move on and be happy again.
